August is Civic Health Month. 🗳️💙 Led by Vot-ER, Civic Health Month highlights the connection between voting and health outcomes. Why does it matter? Because decisions made at the ballot box can shape access to healthcare, food support, housing, transportation,

and other resources that impact community well-being. Voting is more than a civic action, it is connected to the conditions that help people live healthier lives. Civic health is public health.

The power of people and coalition! A while back, we had the esteemed pleasure of being part of Bridge's Accelerator 6. Since that time, we have served as proud members of the Collective. We love being able to come together with our peers and partner organizations to be able to serve our community.

Meet Laurie, one of our amazing interns! Laurie is from Florida and is currently a rising junior at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she studies AI & Decision-Making. She joined Link Health because she enjoys using her technical skills to make a real impact in her community.

Today is the day! 📍💙 Our Gulfton canvassing event is happening today. We’re ready to connect with neighbors, support voter readiness, and help families learn about federal benefits like SNAP and other resources they may qualify for.

Patient Navigators in action 💙 Our team is out in the community helping patients learn about benefits, resources, and support they may qualify for. From clinic tables to one-on-one conversations, this work is about meeting people where they are and making access easier. 🩺✨

School is out, but food support may still be available. ☀️🍎 SUN Bucks/Summer EBT provides $120 in grocery benefits per eligible school-age child during summer in participating states. Some children may be enrolled automatically if their household receives SNAP, TANF, FDPIR, or certain other benefits

Texas SNAP participation is dropping and that's not necessairly a good thing because food insecurity has not disappeared. 🍎 Compared to last year 223,000 less Texans are receiving SNAP. We know access to SNAP is important for families,

especially those with children who are home from school during the summer months. This drop could be for many reasons but we want our community to know we are here to help familiies with navigating benefits like SNAP. We wsnt to help connect you to resources with dignity. 💙

SUN Bucks is back for summer 2026! ☀️🍎 Eligible families can receive a one-time summer food benefit of $120 per school-aged child to help cover groceries while school is out. Families who receive benefits like SNAP, DTA cash benefits, or certain types of MassHealth may be automatically eligible,

and should have received benefits in early June. Not automatically eligible? Families can apply online through DTA Connect or by paper application. If you received SUN Bucks in 2025, your 2026 benefit may have been added to the same card.

Help connect Gulfton families to health resources! 💙 Link Health is looking for volunteers for a Southwest Houston/Gulfton outreach campaign to help people get enrolled in federal benefits like SNAP. Training is provided, and no one canvasses alone. 🙌 First canvass: July 25 Time: 8 AM–12 PM

One year later, the impact of cuts to SNAP and other essential support programs is still being felt by families across the country. For many households, benefits like SNAP are not just monthly assistance, they help put food on the table, reduce financial stress, and support better health.

When funding is reduced or access becomes harder, families are often left navigating more paperwork, uncertainty, and difficult choices. At Link Health, we see how confusing and overwhelming the benefits system can be.
