I think paralyzed might be more than a bit strong. That and even with our usual squabbling we'll vote in the right fashion this fall as most truly get what the alternative looks like.
Maybe “factionalism and infighting” is really just a healthy difference in opinions and the struggle to reach a consensus, otherwise known as governing. If one party can get an overwhelming majority of their members to abandon the hard work of governing, then I’d prefer factionalism.
