Our Summit in Evian was one of extraordinary convergence and unity among G7 leaders. We are united in responding to crises and issues of geopolitical and geoeconomic importance with concrete agreements on a common path forward, and engaging with partners from across the globe:

Great discussion with @mark-carney.bsky.social in Evian. Canada is truly the most European of the non-European countries. We are working together on digital trade, critical raw materials, and defence. We are also stepping up our cooperation on energy.

The EU and Republic of Korea are strengthening our Strategic Partnership – to cooperate more on security, trade, the economy and industrial policy. We are working together for the prosperity and security of our citizens.

Next week, the European Council will address several crucial issues for our citizens and our companies, including competitiveness and global economic challenges, the EU’s next long term budget, as well as Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.

This week, I will visit our six Western Balkans partners. My visit to the region sends a clear signal: our commitment to the Western Balkans is real; and so is the opportunity of enlargement. The momentum is there. Now is the time to deliver.

▫️ We are a reliable partner for the Gulf countries and are ready to contribute. ▫️ By working together, we can support a comprehensive strategy for lasting peace in the Middle East through negotiation and diplomacy.

I am in Abu Dhabi ahead of a two-day tour of the UAE, KSA, and Qatar, today and tomorrow. I come with three messages for our Gulf partners: ▫️ We stand in full solidarity in the face of Iran’s indiscriminate, unjustifiable, and unlawful attacks.

There must be space for diplomacy. The EU stands ready to contribute to all diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and for a lasting solution to end the hostilities, while addressing the broader security concerns posed by Iran.

To de-escalate the situation, I urged Iran to stop the unacceptable attacks on countries in the region and to engage positively on the diplomatic track, notably with the UN to ensure the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The current situation in the Middle East is extremely dangerous. Today, in my phone call with President Pezeshkian of Iran, I urged for de-escalation and restraint, the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, and the need for all parties to fully respect international law.

Today, on the 10th anniversary of the horrific attacks in Brussels, we remember the victims, their loved ones, and all those affected. We remain vigilant in the face of all threats to our security and way of life. We will never give in to terror or violence.
