Its four wings are transparent, displaying an intricate network of dark veins, and are angled slightly backward. Most striking are its huge compound eyes; occupying most of the head and colored a dark reddish hue, they gaze intently forward. The background is a soft, pleasing blur (bokeh) of diffused green vegetation and gentle blue sky, which makes the insect's red form stand out.
