País Valencià. Mediterranean Gothic in Catalan/Valencian & English. Forthcoming in The Rumpus & Chthonic Matter. Pithead Chapel, Neon & Smoke, Flash Fiction Magazine & Dark Horses. Creator of zenodot.app (Publishers Lunch, Jane Friedman, LSE Impact).

We changed how Zenòdot tells you where to find a book. Every edition with an ISBN now shows it, copyable, with one line: with the ISBN, any bookshop or library can order it for you. The humblest gesture, and the one that actually works.

"The Devil Takes You Home” is fucking my brain the good way. I need to keep remembering myself to stop because I have things to do. Haven’t read anything like this in a really long time.

...her hand lifts, two fingers separating as if they remember the path: forehead, chest. The small private choreography that once meant: keep us safe. Her hand drops to her side. She sees me watching and her face closes, polite and empty. READ @ausiastsel.com in @pitheadchapel.bsky.social

The Bread

Ausiàs Tsel   My son leaves the bread upside down because he is six and the world is a surface you can rearrange. It’s a barra—too long for the plate, too warm for patience—resting on the tab…

“Harvest of Bone” is forthcoming in Chthonic Matter Quarterly, 2027. Another Mediterranean Gothic. Chthonic works the seam between Shirley Jackson and Ligotti, which is the right ground for this one. More when it’s out.

Avui, per fi, he enviat l'assaig a una editorial. Parla de gent obligada a callar i d'un país que ha preferit oblidar-los. Encara no en puc dir el nom. Però no el podia callar. Em temo que se m'havia encomanat.

Invitations. Usually a one-time threshold. I’d make it permanent and unknowing; a four-year-old tells the thing in the hedge it can come to her party. Fifty years on, it’s still owed entry. Patient. Lawful. Waiting at a door she forgot she ever left open. #Horrorwriterschat

Last qu, and thank you to everyone who's interacted so far. Your minds never cease to thrill me. Outro in 10. Promo awaits. #HorrorWritersChat

The fairy returned the child exactly as promised. We had begged for all of him. We keep finding the rest. In the bread, behind the skirting, under the dog’s tongue. Every part accounted for. As promised. #HorrorWritersChat

I do love a good writing prompt. Thankfully, so do some of you. One more question after this, then the promo. Thank you to all but the one who did for not promo-ing already. #HorrorWritersChat

My twist folk belief: fairies are angels who fell, not wicked enough for hell, not good enough to keep their place. I took it at its word. In The Hermitage the saint behind the altar is one of them, still standing where the orders ran out. The paint is shedding. #HorrorWritersChat

Being a great horror writer is not always about talking about something scary. It's making something scary that people think is tiny, or harmless. How would you subvert your Tinkerbell? Actually she was probably scary too. #HorrorWritersChat

Guillem Mascaró has been waiting since 1707, the year Felip V’s soldiers burned Xàtiva. Now he kneels in the Cathedral of València, certain of everything except whether anyone is listening. Yous truly is out today in Flash Fiction Magazine. An honor. #HorrorWritersChat

Still Waiting for an Answer?

The priest opened his eyes. Cassock pooling around his knees, hands folded, kneeling before a tomb that held more dust than bones. Beneath the wooden pew lay Ausiàs March, the engraved letters veil…
