Have I told you all about the time Mustard's wins were vacated for cheating, and he lawyered up with a guy in a full yellow suit?

Two days of marbling and I pulled ~25 sheets on 24x36 in paper. Most will be chopped up (and the wobbly bits ignored) and sent as cards or gifted as sets of blank cards for others to gift. I'm kind of proud of myself after not marbling in years!
Day 2 and I may just never leave the marbling tank
Never not obsessed with marbling
I'm quoting this solely so a few people see it and it brings them as much joy as it does me.
They interviewed Maybelle Blair, who is 99 years old and has 4 broken ribs and she's here to cheer them on 😭 she's excited women are allowed pants and said they had to to dig gravel out of her ass in those skirts
I have a lot of frustration about how the women's pro baseball league has been rolled out, but damn if I didnt get a but emotional watching them all come out with women umpires on a full size field.
I'm vague-posting about books I am finishing reviewing right now, so all of you working in my field can wonder if I'm your reviewer and what did I say and omg is my publisher going to email me soon 😈 (For real, been blessed with some GOOD ms lately, y'all, keep it up.)
Found poetry signed by a Mary Middleton Lynn (?) on the back flyleaf of a 1778 translation of Messiah by Klopstock. Googling hasnt turned up the text yet, so maybe original. I love finding women's names! This was in CWRU's special collections 831.62 M21.

today's bluesky posting on bibliographer lore brought to you by the cutting room floor, where I leave speculation when writing articles despite the gossip is what usually got me into the book topic to begin with (Henrietta Bartlett and Ruth Granniss were long-term partners. okay i'm done now)
Every time I read an article where someone uses W.W. Greg's full government name instead of the above abbreviation, I can't help but feel Sir Greg straightens a bit in his grave. Also I 'ship Greg and McKerrow ✌️ (thank you for being here for this incredibly niche bibliographical commentary)
THE SNACK IS BEAVER NUGGETS
Somehow @friede.bsky.social is on tv, and no amount of knowing this was going to happen has made my brain catch up to this reality. Em mentions a book on smell and Clifford Siskin, my partner says "oh interesting", and I'm like yeah, I've read them 💅 never has my reading been relevant to pop culture

Increasingly in the last five years, people have texted me with a link to an article or reference and asking me if I know Emily Friedman. I have a feeling that's going to increase now. CONGRATS, Em!
I am unbelievably touched that @dropout.tv titled my @dimension20.dropout.tv Adventuring Academy episode “A Duty of Care” I’m overwhelmed today, but I want to circle back in a while to share the links to everyone & everything I cited. More soon.
Every social community I'm apart of in Cleveland is talking about us getting an Ikea and it is a glorious day in the Midwest
In in the one bean club after a two year wait, and I want to join another bean club so we can see which region has the best beans, and my partner said I can either have two bean clubs OR a third bookshelf. My beans, books, and I are looking for a new apartment.
still waiting for this to happen and we even have a team actually named browns
Sports teams unveiling a new third jersey are always like "the brown stripe is a nod to our town's original nickname, Sewer City"
Life update 💕 I'm transitioning to Director of University Archives and Special Collections at CWRU this fall. I'll be stewarding an incredible collection on history of the book, science, and theatre including Cleveland Playhouse and Karamu House. I hope to welcome you in Cleveland soon!
Ok now that I’m done live posting on Data Empire next up is Middlemen by @lbmcgrath.bsky.social. Been looking forward to this for a while.
Many of you know I was a union organizer in the CSU. This was us planning for a strike that won a salary increase and parental leave. On the left is Billy Gallagher, a union man to the core and the person who taught me how to organize. Billy passed away this week. May his memory be a blessing.
My partner thought I was joking when I told him about the required AI for Leaders training. It's real. It's 1 of 5. It's what is your reward for being promoted to management and the required training will continue until morale improves.
I'm here to confess my sins. I went to a mandated leadership training and when asked how to solve a problem, I gave a real answer instead of the right answer. The right answer was "have a meeting." I can't show my face around the other middle managers at the Ai for Leaders meeting next week.

Easy: @abojournal.bsky.social Fully OA. No fees. Best editors I've ever worked with.
Academics: What's a journal in your field that's great? I feel like they are a dwindling breed. Criteria: (1) No APC. Supports green or diamond OA. (2) High-quality and relatively fast peer review. (3) Editors who provide real curational value and exercise purposeful agency in the decision process.
Im blocking every account that does this: "X is happening and if you know history you should be panicking." I am only a historian on Tuesday/Thursday but I still think anyone farming engagement from "history" instead of shining light on solutions from our past isnt worth your time.
Does anyone have a rec for a good short form text (any media) from the last 5 years that grapples with either 1. The impact of how we anthropomorphize LLMs (ex "thinking" model, chat "said") 2. How machines harnessing language unsettles our ideas about humanity and human production
I live off NYT slow cooker tomato lentils in the summer, as my partner doesn't like raw tomatoes and I can't not want summer tomatoes. It takes me 5 mins to dump in the crock pot and is greater than the sum of its parts. Add an hour if you keep stock in the freezer. Add goat cheese bc why not.
I have watched the tarp come on and off this field 3 times and we have had 4 different start times but I will be WATCHING some baseball despite rain and wildfire smoke 😤
I got a new keyboard after dealing with sticky and unresponsive keys for a few years, and it's as life-changing as a great night's sleep. I try so hard to limit ewaste, but when I hit the number 4 a 4 appears on screen and it's amazing 😍
