Humans are better at imagining risk than calculating it. We overweight rare, dramatic risks and underweight ordinary ones. That’s why we fear plane crashes more than falls or car accidents. AI is similar, governments and scammers use it to harm people today, but an imagined Skynet is scarier.

goddammit. "premise?" the premise is that there are muppets, they have a show and all hell breaks loose. have hosts on, make fun of them like SNL but kid-friendly. how hard is that? this is like when people said the mandalorian couldn't just be a side-quest-of-the-week show. which was dumb.

There are currently no active conversations for a full ‘MUPPET SHOW’ series revival. Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on. (Source: Deadline)

the explanation for this reminds me of the time when we talked to an enterprise with massively over-provisioned memory, and it turned out their lawyers had said two datasets they legally could not combine could be combined in memory, just not on disk, because that didn't count

Like all of our products and features, Audio Intelligence on Apple Watch was built from the ground up to protect your privacy. • Audio is not recorded or stored. Audio Intelligence features don't create audio recordings. No audio can be accessed by the operating system, apps, you, or even Apple. There is no recording to share, forward, or produce if requested by any party, because no recording exists. • Raw audio is never accessible. Audio flows into a protected buffer inside the S11 chip's Secure Exclave — a hardware-isolated compartment built into the silicon of Apple Watch and iPhone that processes sensor data separately from the rest of the system. Data that is processed and analyzed in the Secure Exclave can't be accessed by the operating system, apps, you, or even Apple. Once processed, this data is immediately deleted. • Siri Recap and Live Rewind help jog your memory, not provide a detailed record. Siri Recap doesn't produce a transcript. It generates a brief, high-level summary — comparable to notes you might jot down after a conversation. Live Rewind shows a text snippet of what was just said in the last 15 seconds, so you can catch something you missed.

this is a good way to think about it. long time ago i talked to a hardware vendor who told me cloud was just for toy apps. long story short they'd stopped paying attention after EC2/S3 and had missed, among other things, database-as-a-service offerings like RDS.

genuinely, if you're not re-evaluating your position on AI at least once every 1-2 months and re-evaluating how it performs for the types of tasks important to you, then you are not actually challenging your priors. i know this is crazy! but thats how fast things are moving right now.
