Yesterday, Saudi Arabian authorities executed five more Ethiopian nationals in Asir, on charges of "smuggling hashish." This brings the number of Ethiopian nationals executed since May 2025 to more than 50, all on the same charges.

In an arbitrary assault on freedom of expression online, X has complied with a request from the Saudi authorities to restrict our accounts from reaching audiences in Saudi Arabia, in a form of “geo-blocking”. Many other accounts have been subjected to the same restriction.

Today, five more Ethiopian nationals were executed in Saudi Arabia for “smuggling hashish”. In a grim milestone, over 1⃣0⃣0⃣ individuals have been executed in 2026, the majority (66) for drug-related crimes. Saudi authorities must implement a moratorium on executions now.
