Need some good news? Washington state just passed a 9.9% tax on households earning >$1 million/year AND expanded its state EITC to 460K families! Gov. Ferguson says he’ll sign the measures into law. It's a huge step forward for one of the country’s most inequitable tax systems.

KUOW Public Radio@kuow.org · 2y agoThe election dust has settled in Washington state. The final numbers are in and for the first time in recent memory, Washingtonians have overwhelmingly voted to keep a tax on the wealthy.
It’s genuinely shocking if you’re remotely familiar with the basic facts of trans care and youth medicine. It is *profoundly* difficult to access gender-affirming care as a minor and the Times has printed more than a dozen articles implying that it is too easy.

This makes more sense when consider how much Morales was targeted, both personally and politically, by some of her colleagues. During this budget cycle, 44% of her amendments were rejected. Meanwhile, the council only rejected 4% of the amendments proposed by the other 8 council members.
