Mike Lee once presented himself as a reasonable, principled conservative but Trump just let him drop that pretense to show that he's actually just an incredibly stupid and pathetic little dork. You're in your mid-50s. Stop posting like a 12-year-old online edgelord whose voice hasn't changed yet.
Live your life in such a way that no one ever feels the need to write a brutally accurate remembrance of what a worthless failure you were.

Every single part of the entire current digital media landscape was envisioned as part of what was called “blogs” at the start. Tweets, Instagram, reels, sharing your morning run with someone, knowing whether your crush had looked at your story, control over sharing to a community — all of it.
Blogs so didn't suck at scale that they, arguably and defensibly, ate the news environment and publishing. We are still living in the age of the blogger, present company included. To be clear. Your influencer/independent journo/networked politico etc etc -- blogging.
LRP: using "slop" to refer to human work you find low-quality or detestable Is Not Helping. Stop doing that.
I cannot wait to make him a lame duck under investigation
Trump: "This is one of the most important elections of your lives. Only superseded by our victories in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Three great victories."
you can be arrested if you give water to people waiting on line to vote
The lies continue. He is offering money if people vote for him.
omg dude this is just so sad. Blogs, podcasts and Wikipedia were loved by everyone with taste and sense from the moment they appeared. I wrote a defense of Wikipedia in 2011 (www.theawl.com/2011/05/wiki...) Understand the internet and love the internet, it has always been regular people who made it
You know things are going well when you’ve entered Day Three of Posting Through It.
One other thing: In researching this essay, I read a lot of punditry from the days after September 11th. One public intellectual in particular comes up again and again, consistently trying to warn us, over and over, in any forum that would publish him, no matter which party was in office.

Trump said last night, "I'm asking you to pretend I'm on the ballot." Trump's approval rating is sub-36%. Seems to me that Democrats in contested races might be smart to run clips of Trump saying that.
one of the monty python animations where you see a string of words muttering out of this guy's head and then you pull back and the top of his skull is open and it's being filled with hamburger and you pull back more and the meat grinder is just being filled with a teeming conveyor belt of dead rats
Hell yeah. Hell yeah brother. Here we go. Hit me with this content. Hell yeah. I can feel it.
Attention is a scarce resource, and there's an entire industry dedicated to stealing it from you.
We don’t talk enough about how much of our days have become entangled in determining what’s real. What’s genuine. What’s human or what’s synthetic. What’s worth our time after having already spent it. It’s a grotesque skill we’ve all been forced to master, and a waste of energy none of us can spare.
Every American is now a Trump contractor waiting to be stiffed.
$2000 tariff rebate checks + $5000 DOGE checks + $5000 midterm checks = $12,000 that you’ll never see.
I can’t believe I got sucked into arguing with people on Mastodon about user experience. It’s like arguing with someone who sleeps on a bed of nails about mattress quality.
Any news outlet that spent even one segment or one article on "Joe Biden is old" in 2024 should be going wall-to-wall with stories about the dementia-ravaged 80-year-old who keeps posting AI garbage and telling insanely obvious lies about himself. And yet
Trump claims he was basically lifted out of the rubble on 9/11: "Two fireman, big strong guys, they grabbed me under the arms -- 'got to get our of here!' -- and they literally lifted me up, and they started running with me."
There’s a special place in hell for this monster. A Doctor Sued 700 Patients for Debts; 81 Were Arrested. Now He’s a Senator.

Patients sued by Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas were routinely charged 18 percent interest, The Times found. Some had bank accounts garnished.

This is the sequel to The Producers that they hinted at but never made.
Leads agreed to pay the Department of Corrections $10 per inmate hour worked. Prisoners employed at the call centers earn $2 per hour, plus possible bonuses for generating leads or completing surveys.
Well, it's nice to finally have proof of what every working person has been feeling. Happy Labor Day.

This is just to say... I have stolen the work that you spent years creating and which you were probably hoping would pay your bills But online sharing doesn't count It's actually a compliment So fuck you BTW, I'm a fan
Just checked & I didn't see mention that McClain confessed that: 1) The GOP will endanger children to benefit party 2) And won't do anything about the economy anytime soon In Free Press, Detroit News, or Bridge MI. Did I miss it? If not, it would be REALLY useful for McClain to be asked at parade.
at least she admits it -- Rep. Lisa McClain defends the NRCC spending money on Max Miller despite horrific abuse allegations, says "divorces are ugly" and "I support anybody with an R by their name"
