Abstract season begins so its the time of the year where I need to think about which topics I want to dive deep into and seem worthy to share. I wanted to do less talks but here I am again with 4 topics. And I bet one conference accepts 2 and another the other 2 :D

If you use uc-local-apex-dev you need one command to get to #orclAPEX 26.2: local-26ai.sh upgrade-apex (takes a few mins but runs without you having to do anything). Run local-26ai.sh shrink-space to remove 26.1 after you validated everything works fine.

I started using Make in my APEX projects to keep the SQLcl, etc. commands in 1 place. There's also a sync script that exports the app before importing and merges the changes with Git →imports don't overwrite what others did in App Builder. #orclAPEX hartenfeller.dev/blog/makefil...

Make APEXlang Easy: Makefiles and Merge-Safe Imports

How a makefile turns the SQLcl, Git and dbLinter commands of an APEX project into short make commands, and how a Git-based sync script stops APEXlang imports from overwriting your colleagues' App Buil...

ORDS 26.2.3 via the container image: ERROR: Required variable ORACLE_USER_PWD is missing or empty. Aborting execution. The documentation states ORACLE_PWD is needed not ORACLE_USER_PWD. Also even after setting ORACLE_USER_PWD it doesn refuse to start. #oracle #ords

Currently investigating if Programmatic tool calling (PTC) is feasable in Oracle via UC AI. PTC: LLM does not just call tools, it can write code that calls many tools and processes the responses. Great for big data. Maybe the perfect opportunity to get my hands dirty in MLE.

Dynamic actions are one of the rare things where I feel they could get in the way of coding agents. Execution point is good but a single JS block calling set values, hides, refreshes etc. is probably much easier to maintain for LLMs (and easier to read for me in .apx) #orclAPEX

Hot take/opinionated: With the help of AI, creating SQL migration scripts is as easy as ever: claude check the commit history since last tag, create a migration script, test it with a local DB. I don't need Liquibase, SQLcl Projects, etc. (Only works if you work file based)
