On Memorial Day, we remember and pay tribute to those who gave their lives to protect our democracy.
May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. Our elected officials in Lake County have worked hard to raise awareness and build support for those living with mental health issues. Though we highlight it in May, this important work happens throughout the year.
Thanks to our Regional Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Karner, who is on the ballot for re-election this fall, and State's Attorney Eric Rinehart for working with the National Threat Assessment Center to prevent violence in Lake County schools.
Secret Service runs specialized training in Illinois' Lake County to help prevent targeted violence
The NTAC conducts behavioral research and preventative guidance to stop targeted violence in schools, using the same tools the Secret Service employs to protect presidents and dignitaries.
