Librarian at Hereford Cathedral. Librarian cliche & loving it. Expect books, tea, crafts & cats. All views my own, in case it needs to be said. "She's the most librarian librarian I have ever seen."

It feels like I've been a curator for the last 18 months or so, and now I get to be a librarian again. Both are brilliant, but have such different requirements. Very happy to be librarianing again, at least for now!

AI doesn't "bring the archive to life" or to even "show what this looked like in color." The medium is the message, in the sense that there is never life in a photo, there is a material object with artifacts that memorialized technology as much as any moment. It's all more imagination avoidance

I'm such a nerd that I've just organised to meet up with a friend at the Obama branch of the Chicago Public Library during my 4 day visit to Chicago in a couple of weeks.

Um, long shot but I don’t suppose I know anyone with library privileges at the university of Wisconsin-Madison (who might be able to look at a physical holding for me or get it digitised)?

What do you do with the chains when reading a chained book?, I hear you ask. As of today, we'll put them into these little calico bags made by the broderers! Inspired by a conservator who told us she put it in a sock while working on one of our books.

Lovely annual visit to Hereford Cathedral & its stunning library. Great exhibition inspired by the 550th Caxton anniversary, including an incunable (printed in 1473) given to the cathedral in 1478.

This is one of those weeks that I will be muttering "You can do this" under my breath constantly. (There are calmer times coming; some periods are just like this, aren't they?)
