Big tech keeps eyeing tribal land for new data centers. But Native nations are pushing back: the Seminole Nation passed a complete moratorium. The Cherokee Nation banned hyperscale data centers. The Kickapoo Tribe formally opposed them.

Data center developments are continuing to spread throughout the country as the demand for digital processing power grows — especially as artificial intelligence systems become more prevalent

If you're NOT struggling with all this <gestures at everything> I don't want to know you. Seriously. If you're reading this, on this stupid app, and you are NOT SERIOUSLY DISTURBED by the state of the earth and humanity and the urgent need for revolutionary change, you're a pos. Or a liberal.

Way too many people in the US will look at this and ignorantly blame "communism" and not the US government, which is currently engaged in a blockade of Cuba. If you're wondering why people all around the world hate us, this is why. We're constantly doing harmful things like this everywhere.

Cuba has 7th power grid collapse this year

Cuba suffered a total blackout as its power grid collapsed again, its seventh of the year. Power is slowly being restored Saturday.

We're using a playbook and tactics that are more than a century old to wage a class war against capitalists that have infinite resources at their disposal. The only time I've ever seen the oligarchs freak out is during Occupy Wall Street because they didn't know what was happening, or how to stop it

I'm honestly tired of the emphasis on organizing your workplace. Unions are not going to fix capitalism. In most cases, they're not getting employees the bare minimum: A living wage. I don't understand the point of unions if they can't even do that.

The ideological incoherence of liberals on this app is exhausting. They claim to be on the left, but say they believe in capitalism. They claim to oppose genocide, but voted for it and only condemn Netanyahu, not Israel. They claim to believe in human rights, but gladly abandon trans people.

Liberals: “You need to vote for right wing Dems so that the party has control of Congress and can implement their agenda!” 😤 Also liberals: “You can’t blame the Dem president for not doing what they promised! The right wing Dems we elected blocked everything they wanted to do!” 😭

You know, it's funny, the only time I ever get personal insults on this web site is when I try to suggest to the Democrat-hating left that letting the Republicans win isn't going to accomplish any progressive goals. It's almost as if people don't like being called out on their bullshit.

VERY important paper! This study detected SARS-CoV-2 in the air of common areas of 4 big US airports. SARS-CoV-2 detected in 98% of samples through the year. Influenza A was found during flu season. That’s why you want to wear an N95 respirator in an airport! And all indoor public spaces all year!

Multimodal genomic surveillance for respiratory pathogens at four U.S. international airports: A comparison of air, wastewater, clinical, and national surveillance data

Early detection of outbreaks and emerging pathogens is critical for public health and global biosecurity. Airports, as major international travel hubs with dense, enclosed populations, are high-risk s...

I browse a lot of the financial press and finance subreddits because I think they’re more likely to say the quiet part out loud, since their money is often on the line, and it’s shocking how none of them can conceive of a global economy where the US isn’t the hegemon and where number doesn’t go up.

The lesson of 2020 is that we shouldn’t mistake anti-Trumpism for liberals seeing through propaganda and changing their politics. This is likely temporary at best, and once a Dem is back in the WH, they’ll be promoting neoliberalism, a neocon foreign policy, and scapegoating immigrants again.

Iran has always been the rational actor when dealing with the West. The US installed a dictator to control the oil and it caused a revolution. In every deal, the West has failed to live up to its obligations yet Iran kept to agreed terms. The US assassinated its leaders, yet Iran didn’t retaliate.

In the past, it used to be the Iranians who were the nutcases. This sounds like quite a sensible plan as there's not much sanity coming from the USA / Israel right now. Just bullying, corruption, murder and thieving. I fucking hate the world right now.

How many Bush administration officials did Obama hold responsible for the illegal war in Iraq and similar war crimes, including torture? Here's what Dems are going to do if they retake power: Nothing. Because taking action would mean that they have to prosecute themselves for past war crimes.

Jack Kennedy@jackkennedy.ie · 2d ago

As a non-American, I would really like to see Democrats in the US start promising war crime prosecutions in future - for this and for the strikes on boats in the Caribbean. Failure to do so would really undermine any attempt to rebuild the US's international reputation
