Trek's cofounders pulled together a small band of Wisconsin builders — Mike Appel, Dick Nolan, and Tim Isaacs — passionate tinkerers who designed and brazed bikes their own way. Working on instinct, ingenuity, and pure love for the craft, they laid the groundwork for what Trek was about to become.
In the winter of 1975, at the Pine Knoll Supper Club in Lake Mills, WI, Dick and Bevil trade lists of names for their new bike company. Between Bevil’s imagination and Dick’s pragmatism, one word stood out: Trek
