Instead, the list puts forth that there’s not a single anime produced in the last 26 years that’s better than Scandal (100) or The Gilmore Girls (99). That feels purposeful to me. Intentionally ignorant. And classist, to be frank.
It’s not a question of eligibility. There are foreign productions, and foreign language shows on the list. There’s also animation on the list.
So, now that the NYT best TV shows list is out, I’d like to talk about how there’s an artificial barrier erected between western critics and anime.
This reminds me of explaining the rules of Kinky Mario Party on a live Our Relationship Pod at PAX that was billed as “a thing Ify is doing” to fill an open slot on Sunday and me watching as a small family stood up and walked out. Lol

Even pre-XLN Jace was a fun character to engage with in the narrative and only got better as time went on I just want people to read the story man :c
