My undergrads wrote a short survey about the Iran war. It's short, only 3 min. They're trying to get responses ASAP. Could you take it real quick, and maybe pass it to others? Works on PC and smartphone. All perspectives welcome. Here's the link: shu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

Any PhDs (maybe ABDs) out here in the NJ-NYC area who'd be interested in teaching a (once a week) masters level course in international security in the spring semester? We're a 30min train ride from Penn Station NY. Reach out if you have someone in mind (including yourself)!
I am spending my sabbatical year working on Cory Booker's foreign policy team. What he pulled off with his 25-hr speech was extraordinary. I feel proud and incredibly privileged to have contributed. Here's a bit of the national security section my team worked on: youtu.be/GnKDC5xzAi0?...

New publication! @reyhuang.bsky.social and I ask a tough ethical question of ourselves and conflict scholars: Are we marketing rebellion? A few years ago, we discovered we both were grappling with this question. doi.org/10.1080/1467... 1/8
Are we marketing rebellion?
Is studying civil war contributing to civil war? Rebel groups often expend significant resources building up international support and legitimacy for their cause. At the same time, much of conflict...

Initial 2 reactions. Good: Wow, an AI that has read my syllabus and all my slides/readings will probably give better answers to my students than rando internet AIs at 3am. Evil: Wow, a lot of people think this AI could replace TAs. I guess we finally have a solution to the overproduction of PhDs.
Super excited to publicly launch "All Day TA" (http://www.alldayta.com), a product @joshgans.bsky.social and I have been working on with our team over the last year. Short version: if you teach in spring, you will want to use this! It's the future of higher education. A short thread: 1/x
Someone please help Mr Lizard get Big Scooter to make things right (preferably not Luigi-style).
So, looking for legal advice, fortunately not for anything dramatic. My wife is disabled. Around March, she bought an electric scooter which lets her get around our small town - church, post office, grocery, about a 2-mile range. This helped her greatly. A few months later, it stopped working. 1/?
Holy cow, when was the last time a state collapsed this fast under rebel group pressure?
Syrian government control over southern Syria has completely collapsed. Rebels from The Southern Operations Room controls the entire city of Daraa and dozens of cities, towns and military barracks.
Perfect way to kick off Thanksgiving weekend (and preburn a few thousand calories, Denny's Cove, Tennessee) #climbsky
This is probably why I really left. For months I blocked/muted every one of these ad accounts, but they were infinite. I screenshotted them for about a week before I said eff that. Just an awful information experience overall. Wasn't gonna last.
This place is so much better at connecting peers than Twttr/X ever was. My follower count is recovered after only a week, I'm finding interesting folks I never knew about and, they are mostly not bots. It's all signal and very little noise around here. So much better.
Just found this over there. I think he means it as a diss, but it's not a diss, and anyway he's right.
I've been thinking about this argument of Arendt's a good bit lately. (Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism, 1973)
If a Trump HHS really wanted to do something they'd get universal credit for, it would not be to ban fluoride from our water, but micro-plastics. But then they'd have to take on big oil, so...

I've thought this too, and I sincerely hope it plays out.
one silver lining to trump winning a popular vote victory is it might actually persuade republicans that they don't have to dump free and fair elections to win (the silver in this lining is dull and very tarnished)

I'm shy on Twitter, and not too popular, but I've been here since 2009. I loved it here. But I just don't anymore. The ads are ghastly, my fave posters are buried in algorithmic garbage, and most the good ones don't post anymore either. I'm moving on. I'll still be over at 🦋
3 normy siblings spontaneously texted me today: - "Blown away...seems like a genuine person." - "Gave a B- speech...in the context of her-or-trump she sounds pretty good." - "She doesn't seem like a libtard." In this clan, this is really quite significant. #DNC2024CHICAGO
Exciting news! This month, I start as a @CFR_org fellow by joining @CoryBooker's foreign policy team to work on research, legislation, oversight, and policy advising, especially on Sen. Booker's work as chair of the @senatefrc subcommittee on...
Nothing has made me more demoralized about the future of AI than these @Google use case ads of children using Gemini to write letters to their role models. #OlympicGames #Paris2024
"It's slicker than snot on teflon out here!" as my TN dad says. Gotta feel for the @TeamUSA women triathletes. #Paris2024
My parents' 50th anniversary is coming up, my aunt's making a quilt, and I decided to try my hand at some diwani calligraphy on my contribution. How'd I do?
In the last 4 yrs, this woman has - left an abusive marriage - left an abusive religion - raised/supported 4 boys - started a new career and - finished her bachelor's! She seized control of her life. I'm so amazed by my big sis Jessica for her exceptional grit and optimism!
Hard to express how honored I am to have been named University Teacher of the Year by @SetonHall. I will continue to do my damnedest to educate and empower our excellent students at @shuDiplomacy (after a quick 1yr sabbatical🙃)
