Loads of people are making better points about the many problems here, but here's one more, in case no one hit it yet: Babies and toddlers will eventually ignore and tune out devices. If you want them to stay engaged, they need to see a human model engagement for them and with them.

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

My wife: Can you read our baby a book?
Me: I can just play an audiobook from my phone.
My wife: But then it won't be in your voice.

On my commute home, some guy left space for me to change lanes. But then he seemed to have changed his mind because he speed up. Then he kept pace with me, refusing to let me get ahead or behind him and started honking at me as my lane ran out. Now I'm having some kind of war flashback about it.

I don't know if it's the politics or the saturation, but I'm sick of stories about wizard societies. Can we go back to where the wizard is one person on a team where everyone has different skills? And your wizard is either really good or really bad at magic? Maybe there's a rival wizard somewhere?

I'm glad I didn't try to pick up any October art challenges this year. I am still overwhelmed with regular challenges. If you're doing any October art challenges, good luck and bless you.

Videographer at work made a very mild comment that seemed to assume I had zero film experience. It was so small, yet it bothers me so much. I bet he never got to help choose wardrobe for the guy from Hellraiser.

We used to have a special cable for connecting to cameras that was called a "firewire." What a waste to use a name that good on tech that became obsolete. We should have saved that name for USB cables or something.

I’ve been hungry in the mornings, so I decided to take a pack of “Captain’s Wafers” crackers to work. Except I should be watching my carbs, so I plan to only eat a few. Minutes later, I’m holding an empty wrapper and wondering, “Is this the true curse of the ancient mariner?”

A package of “Captain’s Wafers” cheese sandwich crackers, which will betray you if you let them.
