Ough I wanna make another game where we really gotta optimize stuff hard I love making number go down and having the tiny improvement add up to big savings over thousands of iterations

This is not a drill! An English patch for the original Super Famicom version of Kamaitachi no Yoru has just been released! This was created by ButThouMust, who previously published one of two English patches for Otogirisou several years ago. Patch in the link below: github.com/ButThouMust/...

I'm trembling while writing this: Kamaitachi no yoru—not the PC remake, not the iOS port, but the actual original SFC version—has been translated at last by ButThouMust, who graciously brought us an English patch for Otogirisou in the past. This is HISTORICAL.

The annoying part of being a sega fan and interacting with other sega fans is regularly having to go over the entire history and downfall of the company for the 500th time I don't care about how the Sega CD, Game Gear, 32x, Saturn, Dreamcast, etc. flopped, I just want to play the games, dude!!!

For some reason I always struggle blending colors digitally Blending brushes feel kinda unwieldy and every program has its own different blending dynamics, blurring tones looks artificial, and what we do lately where we'll layer a ton of translucent tones isn't bad looking, but very time consuming

Getting a really weird feeling having been so productive on BUDD We're so used to all the stuff that's been in the game since 2023 that all the new stuff feels weird and alien right now, and we're pushing on thru without much time to process it Tho that means it'll be fresh when we go to refine it

Sometimes coding feels like laying hacks on top of hacks on top of hacks, yet somehow organizing it in a way that makes sense? Like I can read this and understand this and it's not giving me any issues right now, but I would absolutely never code it like this again.

The fun part of testing steam integration is the feeling of shooting aimlessly in the dark, because I don't feel like making a separate steam account to test this on, and not wanting to send these half-finished features out to testers

Was playing BUDD's 2023 demo again and it's wild just how much snappier the current version is - Screen transitions and textboxes are way faster now - Eris accelerates and slows down faster - Cutscene skipping is faster - Attacks that kill enemies don't completely halt your momentum anymore

There are times I'll get to the final boss in a game and I'm kinda glad it wasn't a clear??? The nerves were off, the vibes were rancid, and there were a lot of really stupid deaths.

It's wild to me that there are all these AAA sequels and remakes spending so much time, resources, and manpower paying lip service to these smaller scope retro games that took a fraction of that time to be made in the first place

Picked up a bunch of random shmups from the Steam bullet fest and in a pretty good mood now, I think! What I love about arcade games is that even you only play them for 30 minutes and don't even want to try going for a clear, you'll still have a great time.
