the world will be so much better once you show people how to help i live in a campus of peers and mentors and i'm trying to write more about that. please ask. i post art here

living in dense community has not solved all my problems... if anything, I have more problems than ever. I feel my college-self [curious, ambitious, uncertain] coming out again for the first time since I left home. I am once again happily lost in a society that is too complex for me to understand.

i can't tell if i want to be posting on bluesky or on twitter, so forgive my while i cross-post a bit.I'm trying to directly compare what it feels like to post the same sort of thing in both places

main thing we can do rn to make things more welcoming here is writing posts that are easy to engage with - asking questions that have easy answers, participation memes like "post a picture of [whatever]". take the perspective of someone who just got here and ask what would get them to reply

quick icebreaker #3: what's a project you're currently working on (could be very small)? what interests you about it? what kind of help could you use?

our optimism and hope for a better future can devolve so quickly when we fight with strangers for (social) territory. it's never too late to refocus on what you love and share that with those around you. It's never too late.

let's design an ideal bluesky algorithm together below, here are my thoughts: - it's just the people I personally like - if i really like you, then it's all the people you invited who you follow - if i really really like you, then it's all the people they invited who they follow - etc.

is it at all possible to create a bluesky culture around reading and commentary on famous talks or papers in computing? I'd love other nerds to discuss the STEPs work with, or my favorite Bret Victor talks... but it just feels like the wrong medium, unfortunately. How could a client change that?

care works. optimism works. strategy works. collaboration works. creativity works. if you want to change the world, these psychic tools allow you to do so. You can change hearts and minds through care, optimism, strategy, creativity, and collaboration. It has worked time and time again.

I am (again and forever) calling for you to post pictures of the things you VALUE, rather than posting advertisements of the things you HATE. Hate ads do not work, they've never worked. You're staring into the void and tearing your own world apart. Snap the fuck out of it!

bluesky is not a cohost or Twitter 2. it is an application running on top of an open, decentralized, authenticated protocol that anyone can extend, use, or interoperate on. it would be a massive failure for this to become cohost or twitter 2.

calling somebody else naive and gullible doesn’t make you wise, or savvy. it doesn’t even mean you have a better answer, it just means you’re spending your thoughts being critical of others. that’s cheap u think it’s so bad, why aren’t u actively trying to break it? talk is cheap

step 1: i treat you as a human being, worthy of love and respect and a place in my home step 2: we debate theories on everything else and push each other's boundaries as we grow apart and back together. we assert our boundaries, and deal w/ violations. but step 2 follows step 1 or it breaks

what's something you could create (if unblocked) that is worth $100MM+ of NEW wealth (purely positive sum / regenerative / whatever term you like to use for goodness) don't be afraid of money, instead work to reclaim one of the most powerful tools (currency) for good -- for universal flourishing!

what if in addition to coordinating to get the most likes on Bluesky we coordinated to get the most [real economic growth] on [Earth] What's something you think you could do/help do/be part of that would create $100MM+ worth of wealth total

it's really fucking cool. no need to pretend that Elon is a monolith. He's a narcissist chauvinist, yes. Horrible political archetype. He is also capable of creating institutions that can innovate on getting HUMANS into SPACE and then LAND ROCKETS. Great project-manager archetype. Wow.
