I'm examining my first PhD defence in a couple of weeks and the dissertation so good that I want to request dozens of hard copies to hand out to everyone I encounter in my life. For a first PhD examination, I think I got pretty lucky!

SCORE, a collaboration of 865 researchers, is now released as three papers in Nature, six preprints, and a lot of data (cos.io/score/). SCORE examined repeatability of findings from the social-behavioral sciences and tested whether human and automated methods could predict replicability.

SCORE shows that there is no shortcut to producing credible research findings, and there is no single indicator of trustworthiness. Research progress depends on transparency, rigor, and establishing r...

Do researchers share their code upon request? Does running their orginal code on the original data produce the original results? We provide evidence in a new Royal Society Open Science publication. Studying more than 1,000 articles which use data from the European Social Survey, we find that... 🧵

If you have about 20 minutes, I would be grateful if you could help my undergraduate student explore whether common empathy questionnaires are actually interchangable in the ways they are used in the social science literature.

Replicating the unconscious working memory effect: a multisite Registered Report

Abstract. Although in recent years some studies have found evidence suggesting that working memory (WM) may operate on unconscious perceptual contents, dec

This figure from my preprint shows path diagrams for the classic approach, hierarchical/multilevel/mixed models, and Hierarchical Factor Models. The key insight: random slopes per task are equivalent to true scores in experimental effects! When I first realized this, it completely blew my mind.

Two years ago, I had an idea, one that evolved over time as I kept reading and learning. Today, a major first part of that idea has just become my first PhD preprint, now publicly available on PsyArxiv. Let me tell you a bit more about the story behind it... while I prepare the submission.

Just for the record, new preprint out! In a project led by the wonderful @aliciafrancomnez.bsky.social (w/ Alicia Ferrer-Mendieta, Carmen Peiro-Lanchares, and @mavadillo.bsky.social), we test how different manipulations affect the response validity of the Perceptual Awareness Scale (PAS).
