A couple of recent #antique arrivals: A mid-Victorian mourning brooch I got via Rebecca Sweeting (who also sells antique clothing items). It is engraved with "In memory of Mary Ann Davidson. Died 13th Mar. 1851, aged 30"

🇳🇴🇵🇭 Momster of Elsebub, Sindre & #SookieTheFarmCat living in the arse-end of Norway. -I mostly post about (horror)books and cats. Sometimes I review the odd read. -🚫DMs unless we know each other
I was asked if I could work again tomorrow. Unlike my previous life/job, that was an easy yes. I'll be in the dpt where there's one particular kid who always asks if we can read a book.
Kid at work: "you're really good at reading" One of the nicer compliments I've been given.
My antique memento mori/halloween necklace was a hit with the kids.
Annoying Graham by speaking in a Mickey Mouse/helium-adjacent voice because why not?
I worked in a different kindergarten class last week to the one today. Dropped by last week's kids and was greeted with a big hug from one of the boys who came running over. I haven't had a single day where I've regretted going to work which is a nice change from what I used to do.
Cold but not a cloud in the sky. 3 sunny autumn days in a row is making me feel spoiled
Sad kitty diaries: The little monsters are returning from Scotland tomorrow and #SookieTheFarmCat is expecting far more attention than she'd ever want. Also; no snacks have been given as of yet
Might have forgotten to post about this, but I have a giveaway running on IG (bsky one in the works) #booksky www.instagram.com/p/DdyQK0wALs...
Me: *gushing about a Georgian seal fob* Graham: "Can I get you that for Yule?"
Me: "What's my coolest antique, aside from Graham ofc?" Graham: "wow...."
A nice parcel of antique rings awaited me in Edinburgh: The 1839 mourning ring memorializes Samuel Butler who counted Charles Darwin!! as one his pupils.
I will purposely pronounce a few things in a certain way to annoy my mom and Graham: -Graham: Cockburn as cock + burn -Mom: Homot kaayo (smells good) as homo kaayo Works every time.
Back in Norway after 6 lovely days in Edinburgh.
Leaving Edinburgh tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the fam-fam again
Missing Graham; sending him a message out of my love for him. I'm a romantic
#antique arrival: A Victorian fly charm (which I'm using as a pendant). Huge success with the eldest and I'm hoping the kindergarteners will like it as well (my modern dandelion pendant was a success last week)
Antique arrival: A Victorian Devil pin needle. Can't imagine the time and care it took to carve it out. Also nice knowing there was at least one person back then with similar interests as me. #victorian #antique
Graham does *not* want to watch "Love & Translation" nor "My Korean Boyfriend" with me. -I'm interpreting this as him not wanting to strengthen our interracial relationship (until he caves in).
Me: "I think a peanut butter sandwich would be improved with some of those pickled chillies" Graham: "are you pregnant again?"
Weeman was unfortunately too ill to join grandpa & big sis to the playground but I sweetened the deal by having Graham read him an antique kiddie book about trains and letters. Who knows when anyone last read this before us. #booksky
In awe of the gift the father-in-law brought me: A victorian heirloom.

So, this year saw me burnt out beyond recognition and I nuked my life: I decided to leave medicine and have started working in a kindergarten. No regrets so far. One kid dressed as Santa and gifted me a leaf, another wanted to look at tiny mushrooms and a third hugged me goodbye.
The eldest stayed up late to greet her visiting grandpa and promptly got him to play a game with her.
