Adjunct faculty at Spokane Falls CC studying phylogenetic estimation using fossils and bayesian stats. Probably playing OSRS. Bi in Sci. AuDHD. Thoughts are my own.

It's infuriating to see the right claim climate change didn't cause the horrific Spokane fires because of how it started. I live in spokane and grew up there. We never used to worry about fire seasons and have been on a multi year drought. The scale of this tragedy is due to climate change.

I'm finding that students in my upper level anatomy and physio course simply are not reading anything I give them. Their exams has bold and often underlined instructions for each section (e.g., true/false but if false change the sentence to make it true) and so many students simply ignored them.

I think Jubilee is a net negative for society, but it is wild to watch Dave Rubin confidently talk about things he knows legitimately nothing about. Please give me the confidence of a man who does no research and then goes on a program and just spews constant misinformation.

One of my favorite days of the quarter. Students get to measure a mock-up of a track site and use real data to reconstruct hypothetical speeds. The core of this work was done by Dr. Ben Kligman at his time at VT and he kindly shared his framework with me so I could adapt it for my students.

Students measuring a mock up of dinosaur footprints that I spray painted. They will be calculating speed from these track ways.

Going on twitter for the first time in like 4 months is crazy cause it's people justifying copying other people's citations uncritically and saying "it should be fine, everyone does it." But at least I wasn't immediately met with racist bs so I guess that's something (the bare minimum).

Ill never understand vaccine hesitancy. Our ancestors would be devastated to learn that people are refusing a treatment that in their day would have meant not burying as many children. A small group of under informed individuals are forcing all of us to experience what life was like before medicine.

I see it's commencement time. To all those who didn't walk or get hooded for one reason or another. Take a moment to reflect on what an incredible accomplishment you've done. Not everyone feels the need to go through the ceremony and if that describes you, you are valid and incredible.

I wonder what it's like to be Mike Johnson. Universally hated and seen as the most incompetent and ineffective speaker in the history of the house. Is it good to be known as the worst person to ever hold the position? Seems like that should carry immense shame.

Why does the GOP continue to blame the Democrats for cheating in elections and paying protesters? Because that's what the GOP does to win and they assume others do it too. Their policies are so unpopular they can only cheat and project their inadequacy onto others.

Donald Trump must be removed from office for threatening war crimes and genocide. Speaker Johnson: bring the House back into session. Invoking the 25th Amendment and impeachment must be on the table, but Congress should also move on a War Powers resolution to stop Trump.

I am glad Trump is backing down but a line was crossed when he explicitly called for a genocide. This is not tolerable, and there is a constitutional remedy. Impeach and remove now.

I have a final project for my intro to dinosaurs class that includes submitting a first draft and incorporating feedback for their final draft. Some students do projects, some write papers. Its been a lot of fun to read revised essays this quarter. I'm seeing a lot of potential in these writers!

Idk if anyone else watched the Love is Blind reunion, but it's gotta be a wild feeling to sit in a crowd of over 100 people who all trauma bonded the same way and just watch your cohort talk about what a piece of shit you are. Absolute cinema.

That horrific state of the union starts to make sense if you consider that Trump doesn't believe that poor people are actually people. His policies are helping the people he cares about. A small percentage of the most fortunate individuals are thriving at the cost of almost everybody else. Impeach.

Deeply saddened by the loss of Paleontologist and cat enthusiast, Hans-Dieter Sues. Hans work had a lot of influence on the science that I do, and his kindness had an immense impact on the kind of scientist I am. My heart goes out to his family.

So if companies are getting reimbursed for the tariffs, but we the people (who actually paid those tariffs) don't see a cent, do we get to skip taxes this year? Or can we have that extra money put into public programs that aren't a masked gestapo? Corporations aren't people, what are we doing?

Question for the Paleo preparator crowd: have you used glass beads in conjunction with high wt/volume vinac solutions(70-80%)? I have a hadrosaur femur that is broken in the midshaft and replacing the eroded material seems like it won't be enough. I want to give it more structural integrity

Completely unsurprised at Jack Horner in the Epstein files. He's been a known predator for a long time and my first (and only) interaction with him was him making a sex joke. Maybe SVP needs to consider taking away his Romer-Simpson award. It does not send a good message to young scientists.

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo of the grain size chart. Should I just be responsible and keep it in my wallet, or should I make sure it's physically impossible to lose my grain size chart? (already planning scale bar on the finger, don't you worry about that)
