Starting 2026 off right: woke up to the sound of our neighbor using his snowblower to clear the entire sidewalk plus our double driveway, chased him down to give him slices of homemade chocolate Guinness cake. Here's wishing mutual aid and sweet treats for everyone.

I am still actively looking for postdoc positions — please lmk if you (or your friends and colleagues) need a hardworking postdoc with field, lab, and bioinformatic skills! I am broadly interested in evolution in the ocean, conservation and population genetics, and rapid evolution.

Great question! 1) First and foremost, we evaluate a candidate based on the departmental guidelines and expectations provided. We don't hold the candidate to arbitrary standards, or even to those of our own institution unless asked to do so. We assess the materials against the guidelines provided.

Lucky to have a friend who does ceramics as a serious hobby and whose "glaze disaster" pieces she can't stand to have in her house I find absolutely delightful.

A heavy, rounded handmade mug sits on a coffee table filled with black tea. It has different shades of cool blue glaze incompletely covering a tan ceramic base that gives an effect of mountains emerging from clouds.
