Dublin 15, Ireland. Nobody wants to read what I write once they’ve read what I’ve written. I assuredly will write it. I also post occasionally about coding, bird-feeding, photos of things, cycling, and drawing (once in a while). He/him

Ed Sheeran staying out of politics there. I've never liked his music much and it's clear today he prefers money over ethics but really it wasn't that hard Ed, fucking hell. Even if he'd cancelled the tour he'd still be worth hundreds of millions. What a dick.

I'm trying to learn Dutch, and I utterly suck at it. Which makes the whole process demoralizing. Any tips from my multilingual friends on how to make this less of a slog when you're not good at memorizing anything? Or is it possible to just be so dumb, that it's impossible?

That’s why I’m easy: Damp but pleasant roll out to Kilcock. You know the way, it’s supposed to be dry, the weather app said, it promised, but it lets you down again. Haven’t had time to get out much recently. Notables; Used the trail running hydration backpack (fiddly, successful) and > 1/2

Statement from President Connolly: We are in a world facing the existential threat posed by war and climate change, both of which are inextricably interlinked. I conveyed the strong view of the Irish people that the normalisation of war and genocide can never be accepted.

We were supposed to be pooling our collective psychic energies to make him have a stroke and you let him distract you with his United Ireland line, you idiots, you absolute rubes

I think we'll need a term in English for "person that had a positive impact on me with their message/ideas at first and while they were a key aspect in my personal growth to who I am today, and I feel the advice is still valid, I do not stand by nor endorse what they have themselves since become."

For what it's worth, I can't help but think that Darragh O'Brien is the Irish Government distraction right now for things that are a lot worse than what he's doing or saying but he's drawing our attention (and anger). They'll get rolled back in the budget. By then we'll have missed the anger window.

I don't say this lightly or flippantly: I honestly think this is the most incompetent government we've had in my lifetime and this is a really bad time for it. None of these guys are *anywhere near* qualified for their important ministerial portfolios. An embarrassing shambles of a cabinet

Darragh O'Brien
Minister for Climate, Energy, and Environment
Minister for TransportJim O'Callaghan
Minister for Justice, Home Affairs, and MigrationPatrick O' Donovan
Minister for Culture, Communications, and Sport

As of Cabinet yesterday, one now needs the ability to communicate in order to be considered a citizen. Yet in the first three months of 2026, not a single child in ten counties was given a plan on how the State would deliver them with speech and language therapy. This week’s column @thejournal.ie:

Gavan Reilly: Six months by law. 24.3 months in reality. Ireland's disability numbers don't add up

The eye-watering numbers of children waiting for Assessment of Need in this country expose a broken system offering little hope to families.

Only 71,850 people have registered to vote in the new Higher Education constituency for the Seanad, despite a potential electorate of between 800,000 and 1,000,000 graduates. The unified 6-seater is open to graduates of over 80 higher level institutions, not just the historic TCD and NUI.

I was just reflecting this morning on the push to integrate LLMs into the software development process. Thanks to LLMs, everything now is much more expensive (devices, energy, food), as well as the code. Every unit of code now costs many multiples of what it used to, and there is more of it.

Cycled 8km across Dublin this morning from Goatstown to Grangegorman & I experienced motorists running red lights and illegally blocking junctions EVERY time the opportunity arose. Busses couldn't move, cars were frozen at green lights, everyone was endangered. There's no law on the road anymore.

Looking for book and graphic novel suggestions for a 14-year-old who: A) Loves the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and books like World War Z & Project Hail Mary. B) Isn't into superheroes/harry potter/fantasy (working on getting him into Pratchett).

In 2017 I wrote a script to generate UI and supporting assets using a data file. It could get you up and running in a day. Now we can do it using a data centre to get you up and running with different results each time. That’s progress.

This talking bird has an excellent idea on dealing with these kinds of situations. Just start responding as if you were doing an ad. Say the words you'd hear if you were looking at an ad. "This video is sponsored by..." etc. Also, and in the alternative, respond by playing The Beatles.

How to stop Content Harassers and get them to leave you alone. You say these music words and it ruins their ability to make money off the video they shot.

this racist self hating pedo shit stain spent ONE day in ICE custody before being deported back to the UK & running to press for a pity party? meanwhile countless Black & brown folks have been sitting in & DYING IN detention centers for months & even years? tell me how white privilege doesn’t exist?
