I need help. I've been releasing science content daily and it's getting a ton of attention, but with that comes a lot of the social attacks. I do need some fellow supporters/scientists that I can flag sometimes to get in these comments and help me cultivate a positive space and shun the negativity 🧪

⚾️⚾️ Starting to get baseballs and yes, the discoloration is real. For example, this is a pearl that was never mudded up. Really. ⚾️⚾️👀 While I’ve received a few balls, it’s not nearly enough. If you can, PLEASE HELP! ⚾️🙏⚾️ (@bwd.bsky.social has details below. 👇)

The impetus for this story was my dad’s pet theory that we were descendants of Genghis Khan. Please give it a read!

'The Mirage Palace' historical fiction from @barbaramcveigh.bsky.social Chinggis Khan had a palace which moved through the desert, assembled nightly from bamboo poles that chattered as we carried them over our shoulders to the next camp. Read more: www.ellipsis-zine.com/writing/the-...

Puzzled by people who want to be readers but don't like reading. But there do seem to be many people who see novels (and films) solely as plot-delivery mechanisms and everything else as extraneous. Buddy, a lot of novels don't even HAVE plots

Axios writer: I melted my brain with AI. Not only can I no longer read, but I don't even understand the purpose of reading anymore. Here's how you can also do this. www.axios.com/2026/08/11/r...

Axios: AI has become my reading buddy as I've plowed through my summer book list, helping me keep track of plots and characters, unpack themes, and make sense of wordy, old prose.

Why it matters: The way many of us actually read books — a few pages before bed, a chapter at the beach, another on a plane — makes it easy to lose the thread. AI can help you pick it back up without starting over.
📖 I really got into using AI while reading James Fenimore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohicans." The text was far too dense for casual vacation reading. My first prompt asked:

"I'd like a guide as I read The Last of the Mohicans who can help me understand what I've read and where the story is, without giving spoilers or getting ahead of my progress. Can you do this, chapter by chapter?"
The robot agreed: "Cooper's sentences are long and his diction is archaic."

Thank you so much, Teresa! 🥰 And thank you for not quoting it here. You’ll just have to read it folks 😁. The penultimate paragraph took quite a lot of revision, I can tell you that. The rhythm had to work.

When people say there aren't any new good books coming out, imho, that's because they're either overwhelmed by choice or just unfamiliar with the indie literary ecosystem. Hell the Big 5 put good stuff out, too, but indies most often put artistic value & clarity of intention before commercial appeal
