Boring TIL, but the Heathrow Express only pays delay compensation if you're 30+ mins delayed (vs 15 minute journey time). Apparently my 26 minute delay was insufficient, despite being 250%+ of the normal journey time. It should be closed. It only exists to rip folks off at this point...

If a data centre paid for the end of private ownership for this site of natural wonder, I'd take it. The Cliffs of Moher suck, the way they're run is a national embarrassment, where a bunch of farmers collude to rip people off to the tune of tens of millions a year.

Data Centre Granted Planning For Moher Cliff Face https://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2022/08/16/data-centre-granted-planning-for-moher-cliff-face/

Genuinely think a road safety ad where Pat Shortt says “lads, would ye ever use your fecking indicators coming off the roundabout” would improve the general standard of driving across the country

This is a bad argument, and most of the reality of cancellation of services is awful, but there's a reasonable underlying principle as to why you might want to talk to customers about retaining them rather than just having them quiet quit, because that's genuinely a chance to learn their issues.

Andy Burnham is bringing forward by several months to January plans to make subscriptions easier to cancel. Trade groups said this would leave publishers "scrambling to adapt to an entirely arbitrary new deadline - diverting valuable resources that would otherwise go into building better products"

After a summer in London then two weeks in US, spending the last few days in middle of Ireland has been *bliss* Had forgotten what it’s like to not be constantly hot, to sleep properly, to be able to exercise without feeling like you’re going to expire Can see a lot of climate refugees moving here

The political information environment continues to evolve in ever more destabilising ways, yet established political parties seem content to let it get worse, even though it ultimately harms them most of all. It's bizarre.

After 2016, the platforms felt compelled to do some transparency and verification for political and issue ads. They recognised that, this content, of higher social and democratic importance, needed more accountability. Blue tick and monetisation programmes need the same, now.
