What's laughable is that on Amazon I will probably hit $100 at the end of the month but on D2D I've been stuck at $8 since last year. That's not even mentioning the amount of money I've made in-person (hint: it's WAY MORE) It's almost like performance as an author is relative or something...

It's been about two years since I started professionally writing and my journey has been unconventional to say the least but I feel like I'm getting mutually realised in both my indie and trad tracks and that's really affirming in a sense that perseverance can be key for an industry like this.

WE WILL DEVOUR THE NIGHT and AND THE AGE OF SUMMER WILL RISE are officially eligible for this year's Indie Ink Awards. I have taken the initiative to not only list out what categories I think they're eligible for but also list out examples of why I think they're eligible :)

I've only been doing this full-time for less than a year but I don't really have a safety net. I have savings and the generosity of whatever friends and family are willing to give me. That's really it. I will probably be back in salaried employment by next year if all goes well.

Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.

ECHO CHAMBER did get an agent like on its second pitch. While pitch events are like playing the lottery any small sign I can take that my pitching skill is improving and the premise is hitting the way its supposed to is a win by me! Thanks everyone for your support through this event 💖
