WEFTEC 2026 is coming up fast! This year, it will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans September 26-30. For more information, and to register to attend, please see WEFTEC’s website www.weftec.org. We look forward to seeing you there!
*AEESP Student Ambassador Post* Hear from future environmental engineers about how they hope to use their degrees to make a difference! In this video, students from different universities share the goals that motivate their education, research, and future careers.
*AEESP Student Ambassador Post* Volunteered at Belle Isle Beach with The Cleanup Club. Local cleanups help keep litter out of waterways and reduce potential sources of microplastic pollution. Small actions, lasting impact.
*AEESP Student Ambassador Post* Field work is always exiciting, especially when it involves sampling from a boat! Our research group collected samples from a stormwater drain and lake sites to investigate potential microplastic sources and receiving waters.
Finally completed the sample processing I started last week! Lab work keeps teaching me patience. Each step takes consistency, repetition, and a positive mindset. As one of my mentors said, “A PhD is a marathon, not a sprint.”
*AEESP Student Ambassador Post* A causal walk can turn into a small sampling activity. Since I’ll be working with citizen science datasets, I wanted to experience how field observations can become useful environmental data and reveal hotspots, sources, and potential transport pathways.
Hello AEESP! I am Fatima Iqbal, and I am excited to share that I will be serving as an AEESP Social Media Student Ambassador this Month. I am a Ph.D. student in Environmental Engineering at Wayne State University, and I look forward to sharing my grad and research experience with you all.
