European Nucleotide Archive (ENA)

@enasequence.bsky.social

The European Nucleotide Archive offers open data archiving across species, platforms & applications. A globally comprehensive record & platform for data coordination

Public Service Announcement: SILVA has joined the Bluesky community!

📢🎉 SILVA is part of the the DSMZ Digital Diversity consortium, a Global Core Biodata Resource and an ELIXIR Core Data Resource. www.arb-silva.de Follow for the latest information and announcements 🦠🔬👩‍🔬

A new report puts a number on what open data is worth. £11.8bn/year The ENA's piece of that picture: petabytes of nucleotide sequence data, permanently archived and freely accessible the sequence layer beneath it all. Open data works because it's infrastructure. Proud to be part of it.

What is the value of open data for the life sciences? 📈 New report by Frontier Economics shows that EMBL-EBI data resources save users an average of 11 hours/week/person, leading to £11.8bn/year in research productivity gains. s.embl.org/EMBL-EBI-202... #opendata

Life science research depends on global access to sequencing data but this only works when everyone speaks the same technical language. Find out how the INSDC has updated its specifications to simplify data submission for better synchronisation across its partners. www.ebi.ac.uk/about/news/a...

New specifications for submitting nucleotide sequence data

New INSDC standards support simpler submissions and improve synchronisation of global genome sequence data.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing health threat, making infections harder to treat and complicating routine medical care. EMBL-EBI’s new AMR portal brings together laboratory resistance data and bacterial genomes in one open platform. #WAAW2025 #ActOnAMR www.ebi.ac.uk/about/news/t... 🧬💻

A new gateway to global antimicrobial resistance data

New online portal connects bacterial genomes with experimental resistance data to support antimicrobial resistance research.

We’re seeing delays in ENA assembly processing & INSDC data exchange outwards due to a surge in recent submissions. Processing should return to normal soon, but we can’t give a timeline for assembly exchange with INSDC partners. Thanks for your patience updates will follow once normality is restored

Listen to the latest episode of #GenomicConnections featuring Joana Pauperio, Biodiversity Curator at @enasequence.bsky.social She joins @ergabiodiv.bsky.social to discuss the power of metadata and how it supports #FAIR data in biodiversity genomics. @biogeneurope.bsky.social

You may have noticed that we have A LOT of posts on our feed. We have imported all our Tweets into BlueSky to make it easier for users to find their favourite posts! Please be aware, although these were all posted today, they will be marked with a "date archived" date when they were originally made

🚨🚨Service Announcement🚨🚨 From the 1st of September 2023 the ENA will be placing a rate limit on it's data retrieval APIs. After this date, rates will be limited to 50 requests per second which, if breached, they will be rejected with a "Too Many Requests" error.
