people have gotten into the more cynical/transphobic of their motivations, but imho a large part is that they know this is a bad move and are panicking to try to make up for it on behalf of the candidates by scolding trans people into voting for them anyways (which won't work)

A big part of why I insist trans people need to be far more aggressive in advocating for ourselves is because there seems to be an entire category of liberal who thinks access to gender affirming care is unimportant but being allowed to serve in the military is vital to us
It's cool seeing Brazil become a reference against the far-right, but you can't focus exclusively on online strategies. Lula also had politics that engaged people: he banned online gambling, reduced work hours, improved wages, defended public healthcare, etc. You don't mobilize masses on centrism.

Trans rights aren't starting at zero. We've lost 90 years of rights in the last 10. We don't want perfect. We want the Democrats to stop promising us the rights we recently had will be returned to us in a decade or three if we're quiet and obedient enough.
