At midnight tonight we switch off the FM transmitter but our stream will keep on going for another 12 hours. To conclude this year’s broadcasts we have an epic 12-hour long-form work by Newcastle-Upon-Tyne based composer, artist, and writer, Jorge Boehringer.

At 8pm tonight - a new radio work in Welsh and English from a stellar line up of producers and musicians including Ed Baxter, Michael Umney, Steffan Cennydd and Richard James of Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.

At 6.30pm Milo Thesiger-Meacham - artist, writer and artistic director of our partner radio stations, Resonance FM and Extra, presents us with five works about the pressures of air and water featuring original writing, music, field recordings and camera audio.

At 5.30pm today – all the way from Jersey City, USA, Elise Macmillan invites us to dine at Stella's 24-Hour Eatery.

At 3pm North Ayrshire based artist and musician Ruaridh Law will be with us for the last of this year’s in-studio live performances.

At 2.30 this afternoon our friends at ddcr have sent us a sonic postcard from Dundee – ‘sounds dundonian’… a meander + a stride through the city, hearing from the pavement, moving through streets + slopes.

Today’s commission at midday comes from the enigmatic Dosimat. This is the first occasion we have commissioned an artist knowing only their pseudonym and having no idea about their true identity.

At 10.30 this morning - Duncan Macleod & Shona MacClennan present a sonic portrait of the of Balranald Nature Reserve in North Uist in the documentary feature ‘Bi Glic!’.

At midnight artist collective Pastoral Fields present us with an immersive soundscape composed of field recordings, submerged vocal phonations, and processed environmental audio in ‘Wind Paralysis’.

At 10:40pm Experimental sound-art performance trio Cleaver Boi and The Hungry Ghost delve into mythology, the natural world and supernatural phenomena to explore themes of belonging, displacement and womxnhood in ‘Triste Tuiuiú’.

At 6.30pm Mingus (AKA Gustavo Minian) & Maru Waldhuter present a sound essay investigating the construction of the "desert" as a political operation of emptying, in ‘De/Cierto: A Mineral Symphony of the Void’.

This morning at 9am - An audio work comprising two intertwined pieces made by writer Maria Fusco, artist-filmmaker Margaret Salmon and composer Annea Lockwood – ‘History of the Present’ & ‘On Fractured Ground.’

Tonight at 9:30pm Sheffield Patrol Group present ‘ON BEING A GENIUS LIKE WOT I AM: An Audio Celebration of Johnny 'Eliphaz' Oatcake’. This piece is a series of interconnected audio reflections on the “tyranny of positivity” and the barriers to genuine creative autonomy. @sheffpatgrp.bsky.social

This evening at 8:15pm freelance journalist Yasmina Hamlawi presents ‘Rain on the dead’. In Algeria, burials are men's work, while crying is considered a woman's role. Eight-year-old Kenza travels to Algeria with her mother, Yasmina, in search of her origins and to honour her deceased grandfather.

Today’s new commission at 6pm comes from Argentinian composer and Doctor of Aesthetics, Science and Technology; Elsa Justel. Now in her eighties and living in Paris, Justel is still actively producing new work as an independent composer and video artist.

At 5pm composer, @nicholascrutton.bsky.social and award-winning fiction writer, @zoestrachan.bsky.social join us live in the studio for ‘Carbon Hum’ - a live-to-air broadcast that celebrates ten years of their collaborative practice and a creative process they call ‘test-pitting’.

At 4pm this Adam Mirza and Akiva Zamchek present a special edition of FRL (aka "Fake Radiolab"). FRL (aka "Fake Radiolab") is an ongoing duo performance project that interrogates mediated "facts" through experimental explorations of the podcast as a media form.

Live-to-Air performance – Saturday, 19th September from 7pm Aniruddha Das is an electronic musician active at the intersection of bass culture, experimental noise and sound art.

Today’s Radiophrenia commission at midday is a slightly reworked recording of a live performance by an expanded line-up of the Glasgow group ‘L’. The piece is a rewrite of the John Coltrane album ‘A Love Supreme’ featuring a choir of 11 additional members.

At 9.45am Seda Mimaroğlu presents ‘Ağıtlar’ (Laments) – a piece that weaves together voice, music, and field recordings composed across different times and geographies. Seda is an artist and poet from Istanbul, now based in Berlin, working across text, sound and image.

This morning at 9am Justyna Banaszczyk AKA FOQL explores her love for bugs, creepy crawlies and all manner of mini-beasts.

At 9.30pm we have another new Radiophrenia radio commission: ‘Untitled’- a found recording, reconstructed, and edited by Hunda Sound with Paul Brennen. Originated by Luke Sutherland, Hunda Sound’s current primary focus is in creating art - often through improvisation, with strong entropic elements

Tonight at 8:30pm – Milanese artist Giada Pignotti presents an audio diptych in ‘Storia di Laide (before sleeping)’. “Storia di Laide” is a hybrid work blending storytelling, experimental music and poetry. Through shifting episodes, it follows Laide and her evolving sense of body and identity.

At 7pm this evening - Manja Ristić and Mark Vernon bring us a haunting electroacoustic journey built from Belgrade’s forgotten sonic debris in ‘Volim Beograd’.

At 6:30pm - we go for a run with installation artist Pheobe riley Law in a piece originally created for Semi Silent’s ‘Sonic Future Residencies’ series. Sound:run:brea(d)th originated in a series of daily sound-runs undertaken by the artist.

Today’s new radio commission at 6pm comes from Glasgow based sound artist and composer, Matt Robin. Ancient Celts imagined sound bouncing off a cliff face or cavern wall as a child birthed by the stone. In Scottish Gaelic the word for “Echo” is “Mac-Talla” — "The Son of the Rock”.

At 5pm today we have Network Music Glasgow live in the studio. Network Music Glasgow is a computer music group with five core members; Neil Quigley, Rachel Ní Chuinn, Simon Weins, Laurie Pitt and Nicholas Cooney.

At 2:30pm – a live performance collaboration between two Glasgow based artists - Jennifer Wicks and Bex Šik. They will both be here in the the Radiophrenia studio to present ‘Dis[store].’

At 12:30pm today – ‘Doppler Effect’ - Qasem Waleed is a 28-year-old physicist who has lived in Gaza his whole life. Since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, Qasem has been writing about the chaos and violence of Israel’s military bombardments and how they devastate his and his family's lives.
