Y’all—this is some iconic level Austin radness. Places I love in this town often have had an Austin Chronicle Best Of banner hanging in them, and so joining this illustrious cadre for My Big Book of Texas is mind-blowing, to say the least. (So, yeah. I HAD to get the banner.)

Today was a great day! 🤠📚 I talked MY BIG BOOK OF TEXAS with the Texas Center for the Book—and even got to see the ACTUAL Texas Constitution. A huge moment for this Texas-sized Texas nerd! ⭐

“Cats only, bro.” In which, the bed is too high for Argento* (the pug, if you’re new to this feed) and the cats require a Sunday morning felines and favorite humans only hang time. *It’s actually not. One magical Saturday he figured out how to jump up, but the knowledge has left him.

Watched He-Man. It was great, minus the absence of Stratos, my fave OG He-Man figure. So I sketched a bunch of Stratos heads about it.

Do your thing. Live your whimsy. Tell your stories. A child who picks up your book years from now won’t know how many Instagram posts you made, won’t know what the algorithm did that week. They’ll just know someone created a world they wanted to spend time in. This, the part that lasts. #kidlit
