60+ studies spanning 5 decades were reviewed by the Center for American Progress. It found well-resourced school libraries w/certified librarians are associated with stronger academic outcomes, w/the greatest benefits seen among low-income students, students of color, and students with disabilities.
#KidLit is so important. It creates lifelong readers & learners at any age! You are never too old to read & learn from picture books & middle grade books. 🫶📚
I write kidlit and work in a jail library. It melts my heart when my patrons request PB & MG during such a difficult time in their lives. These books are powerful and complex. They provide comfort and bring back beautiful memories. They make people feel seen and safe. They are for EVERYONE. #booksky

🇺🇸 #America250 is a time to celebrate our public libraries, built on the idea that access to knowledge shouldn't depend on who you are or where you're from: 📚 https://bit.ly/4vOgdev #Bookish #FourthOfJuly #LibbyApp #LibraryLove #Booksky

#SchoolLibrarianSummer I’m planning for next year while watching entirely too much World Cup. ❤️📚⚽️🏟️💻 I’m also at war w the lantern flies in our garden (I bought a bug vacuum). #SummerVacation
A8 #TLSkyChat #SlowChat We increased our circulation of traditional novels & met our goal. We genrefied this section last year hoping to increase circulation.
Q8: Time to brag! 🎉 What accomplishment, project, program, partnership, or student success are you most proud of this year? Answer with A8: and include #TLSkyChat
A7 #TLSkyChat #SlowChat I like to compare years. It is nice to have a lot of important info all in one place to compare.
Q7: How do your end-of-year reports and reflections influence your goals, priorities, and planning for next year? Answer with A7: and include #TLSkyChat
A4 #TLSkyChat #SlowChat I do a simple Google doc w just text. It is one page. I email it to our admin team.
Q4: What formats, templates, or platforms do you use to publish and share your end-of-year reports? Answer with A4: and include #TLSkyChat
A3 #SkyChat #SlowChat I include circulation, weeded items, new items, top check outs, major events/activities, classes/student per week & my goal data.
Q3: What data or information do you include in your end-of-year reports, and why? Answer with A3: and include #TLSkyChat
A2 #SkyChat #SlowChat In the ES I email it to our admin team after the last day of school (when things have slowed down) I keep it simple, short & sweet.
Q2: Who is the target audience for your end-of-year report(s)? Why? How do you make sure they actually see it? Answer with A2: and include #TLSkyChat
A1 #TLSkyChat #SlowChat Our admin is very hands off so I like to send a report to remind them of the positive impact our library has on all our students & all the program tasks we do in addition to the library special classes we teach.
Q1: Why do you create end-of-year reports for your library? Answer with A1: and include #TLSkyChat
A7 This year I added some pictures of students in the library w my EOY report. Smiling kids always help getting admin attention.
Q6: Reports often focus on data and advocacy. How do you capture and communicate the less measurable, but equally important, parts of library impact? Answer with A6: and include #TLSkyChat

#SchoolLibrary Yes, I share w our students that what they are learning in library are things they will continue to use in middle school, high school & beyond. #LifeSkills
Growing up, my teachers mostly taught me what to know, but my school librarians taught me how to learn on my own
#SchoolLibrary #EndOfTheSchoolYear We have 8 more days of school! In the library we are: collecting library books, giving away books & promoting our public library. I hope we make it. The chaos is real!
Great article.Gatekeeping kid lit by labeling most as “crud” is gross. Kidlit should be written for kids not for award committees made up of adults. knowledgequest.aasl.org/when-the-amb...

#LoveYourLibrary Went to the public library to return a book that was returned to the school library & recycled my button batteries, donated a pair of prescription sunglasses, borrowed 5 travel books, bought 4 used books & got a free tomato plant. Libraries are amazing! 🫶
As an ALA Life Member, I am utterly confounded by the decision to allow space on the floor of the Annual Meeting to a company openly antithetical to the profession. Is the Association so desperate for conference revenue? aischoollibrarian.substack.com/p/why-is-ala...
Why Is ALA Giving a Platform to a Company Promoting “AI Librarians”?
Libraries are fighting cuts, deprofessionalization, and attacks on expertise. This feels like the wrong message at the wrong time.
