State Dep has approved possible $24.3B sale of 48 F-35A fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, along with 49 F135 engines, training, weapons support and related equipment. Congress has been formally notified. Part they don’t mention: existing backlog & lead times point to first deliveries around 2029-2031.

As everyone in the US celebrates their Constitution today, I’m reminded of the day I learned about Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. And yet, here we are, the rest of the world, dealing with the consequences of an insurrectionist getting elected as their president for the second time.
