Emil Hemming *almost* catches Binnington on the power play with his patented one timer.

Solid no-look pass from Hughes to Hyry, who taps it in for the 1-0 lead.
Into the weeds: Is Glen Gulutzan right about Dallas' offense over the last five years? Of course he is. But the details are more interesting than the broad strokes. dcastillo.substack.com/p/is-glen-gu...
Is Glen Gulutzan right? Have the Stars been a weak (or weaker than we’ve been led to believe) offensive team all these years?
According to Glen Gulutzan and Dallas’ analytics team, yes. But is that correct?

Interesting comment. But like: why now? For years there's been a discrepancy in Dallas' raw goals-for totals, and their shot quality and shot volume numbers adjusted for minutes (less so under DeBoer). Like, good, sure. But just kind of funny to hear out loud.
Glen Gulutzan said they did a deep dive into analytics this summer and are going to make some changes offensively. He said the numbers showed they weren’t a contender level offensively not just last year, but the last five years.
Minor writing update. I'm gonna be writing about the San Jose Sharks this year (off and on obviously, as the Stars Stack is going nowhere)! Here's my first piece. The importance of Michael Misa, and what his development means for a critical year. bladesofteal.com/the-san-jose...
The San Jose Shark's playoff hopes run through Michael Misa
It can’t just be the Macklin Celebrini show. Well, it can. But it won’t win San Jose a Cup. It’s obviously too early to be using that word, but it’s not too ea

Postgame quicktake: Jakub Vaněček continues to impress. Tight composure, never looked pressured, and made plays. I know expectations are high for Emil Hemming and people probably wanted more but I thought he looked crisp and controlled the puck better than any other DAL forward.
Dallas vs. Columbus parospect tournament has turned into a UFC event. Chingasos have been thrown.
Postgame quicktake: Paquette and Bertucci stood out the most from shift to shift. Strong on the pucks all night, and didn't seem rattled by the Red Wings' talent. Tiefensee was good, but also Detroit seem to be shanking their opportunities? Tough to tell.
Tristan Bertucci is one of the more mature prospects on the ice tonight and he's looked it all game.

It sports hurts to see such a massive gap between GMs who are qualified to run a team and those that aren't. When people talk about league parity, what they're really talking about is the decision-making disparity at the top.
