Putin doesn’t want peace, Russia’s reply to diplomacy is more missiles and destruction. This deadly pattern of recurring major Russian strikes will repeat itself until we help Ukraine break it. (1/3)

With 2026 underway, a quick look back at 2025’s milestones. First of all: steadfast support for Ukraine and a just, lasting peace: - 90 billion euros of EU support over the next two years - Backing Ukraine on its path to the EU through concrete reforms 1/

Putin hopes his games tire the democratic world, but our unity and resolve have proven otherwise. Today’s VTC is a clear example. Security guarantees must be defined by those who seek and provide them. Russia has no say in Ukraine’s future - or the future of Europe and NATO.

The killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible. I spoke again with Gideon Sa'ar to recall our understanding on aid flow and made clear that IDF must stop killing people at distribution points. All options remain on the table if Israel doesn’t deliver on its pledges.

The EU has just agreed on one of its strongest sanctions packages yet against Russia. Lowering the oil price gap directly reduces the Kremlin's ability to fund the war. Our pressure must increase to force Putin to stop the killing. This is the way to a just and lasting peace.

We are standing firm. The EU just approved one of its strongest sanctions package against Russia to date. We’re cutting the Kremlin’s war budget further, going after 105 more shadow fleet ships, their enablers, and limiting Russian banks’ access to funding. (1/3)

Tonight, Putin launched its biggest attack yet on Ukrainian civilians. Targets included apartment buildings, a school and a hospital. Russia’s cruelty will not stop unless we force it to. That means acting now: a strong 18th sanctions package and more aid for Ukraine.

Excited to welcome Katrin Juhandi back to Brussels as Estonia’s new Deputy Permanent Representative to the EU! With her extensive experience —serving as Mertens during our EU Presidency and most recently as EU Sherpa—she is a perfect fit for our seat at the Coreper I table.

Every inch of Russia’s war has been documented. It leaves no room for doubt. And no room for impunity. Today we take a decisive step towards justice by agreeing to establish a Special Tribunal to ensure that those responsible for aggression against Ukraine are held accountable.

Today marks Marten Kokk's last day as our Coreper I Amb. Despite the Covid-19 and energy crises, and russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, his warmth, thoughtfulness, and humor never wavered. All the best in your new position as Secretary General of the Ministry of Climate of Estonia, Marten!

We know what Russia is about. Estonia is investing in defence - from 2026 at least 5%. Now we must also aim for common EU funding. On competitiveness, simpler and fewer rules are an absolute must. I am also calling to postpone the ETS2 for transport and buildings. #EUCO

Estonia will increase its defence spending to at least 5% of our GDP from next year. Our aim is clear - to make any aggression against us unfeasible. Russia has not changed its goals and imperialistic ambitions. This is a real threat to both Europe and NATO.
