On March 25, 1911, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire took the lives of 146 mostly young, immigrant women workers in what is now NYU's Brown Building. At an annual ceremony commemorating the fire this week, Arlene Peralta-Avila, NYU's AVP of Community Engagement, laid a flower at the site.
