They're thrilled.

Pen and watercolor

Cowboys again. This time one of our boys has lost his boots. Standing in a field of long grass the cowboy points towards the ground and shouts back to his colleague, “Lil bone people got muh boots.” This makes no sense to the other cowboy who sits atop his horse away from the action. He responds, “Lil wut?” Sure enough in the foreground we see a squad of little bone people scampering through the grass with the stolen cowboy boots. They’re thrilled. How the bone people got the boots off the cowboy is unclear.

Artist’s note: I tend to draw drawings from the same perspective (straight on) most of the time. This idea came about when I was goofin around trying to draw a character from a lower angle. I like that the story unfolds with the foreground, mid-ground, and background all working together. There’s a draft of this one included in the Spooky Pants book. Coming out next week!

My new #CloudEmpress sell sword, The Sparrow. The big pillar is his weapon :3 #Mothership #OC #DND #D&D #TTRPG #art #digitalart #HereForThePotionsArt #bara(?)

"You see a burly, bearded man standing in line to board the Bean Barge. He carries himself with a severity and world-weariness that seems beyond his apparent age, and his plain crimson robe is only worn up to the waist and held up by two thick leather belts, exposing a broad, hairy chest and the muscled arms of a labourer- *or a warrior.*
Over his shoulders is a red pellegrina, the capelet of a clergyman, which protects the otherwise bare skin of his shoulders and upper back from the large Doric pillar of smooth, white stone that he drags behind him.
Even without his mask, you recognise the man as a brood monk, a spiritual ascetic who deals in matters of the mysterious imago."

I completely forgot to post this guy, he's BEEN done 😭 I don't love it as a whole, I mainly just wanted to experiment with the hair, but I do love how the hair turned out so I achieved what I wanted for this guy. #elf #art #OC #fantasy #fantasyart #digitalart #worldbuilding #HereForThePotionsArt

A naked elf man with golden skin, silver hair, and glowing white eyes wearing a sheer drape over his legs. His arms, legs, and neck are very long, and his dogs and crotch are featureless because I'm not dealing with that.

My university lecturer said my character design work always follows a formula of having a short fat one, a tall skinny one, and a furry one. It wasn't a criticism, but it felt so scathing for absolutely no reason 👁️👁️ Anyway, here are some #witches. #art #conceptart #HereForThePotionsArt #OC #witch

Character silhouettes of a large stout woman with short braided pigtails and a large basket on her back full of candy; a tall, emaciated woman with a hooked posture, clothed in rags and carrying a birdcage and small key in her clawed hands; and finally, an anthropomorphic boar women standing inside a rotund cauldron which she uses to fly using a giant spoon to guide it like an oar.

Pixel art of a mushroom with a straight yellow stem and a tall, zig-zag shaped red cap with little brown star-shaped warts on it.

Pixel art of a little green man with burly arms and a mischievous grin obscured by the shadow of his cap, which is tall, red, zig-zag shaped, and dotted with little brown star-shaped warts.

A digital doodle of a little gnome with a beak-like nose and beard, tall, and a zig-zag shaped hat with a sprout tied to it with string. He is lifting the brim of the cap to peek out from under it.

A digital illustration of a hunched creature with no visible facial features except for a very large nose with moss growing on it, a big bushy moustache and beard that is so long that it has to be tucked into a belt around the creature's barrow waist, and disproportionately large, taloned index fingers. In one hand it holds a thimble, and on its head is a very elaborately over-engineered cap adorned with buttons, thread, pins, and bundles of herbs.

More doodling, today we have an ✨ elf ✨ I wanted to experiment with a different way of drawing hair, and I think I like this simple silhouette style- though it might look ass on more rendered pieces. #hereforthepotionsart #art #OC #conceptart #traditionalart #sketch #worldbuilding #elf #fantasy

Traditional sketch of an elf with long gangly limbs, a long neck, fuzz on their back and neck, and a more detailed face with soft shading that is not present on the rest of the body. They are sitting on an invisible surface with one leg extended and the other bent. One arm rests on the bent leg, and the other arm reaches up to hold the resting arm's forearm. Their hair is long and straight and their facial features are long and sharp, with large eyes and eyebrows thar point upwards.

Just doodling.Wanted to try a more experimental design for giants, as my worldbuilding project's equivalent of dwarves resemble crabs. #hereforthepotionsart #art #myart #sketch #traditionalart #conceptart #OC #monster #creature #giant #lobster #cosmichorror #fantasy #worldbuildng

Giant concept sketches, giant lobsters with human faces and arms.
a page of light doodles, including a portrait of a bearded old man with a large nose and antennae, a small thumbnail sketch of a lobster from the side with no claws and a human face, and a large central half-body sketch of a lobster facing the viewer with the gentle face of a woman with closed eyes and human arms instead of claws.

I wanted to experiment with my mages, inspired by Elden Ring and statues of Athena with a helmet on top of her head. I came up with this design of a stone mask with a tall pointy helmet on top of it. I like it. More in alt #HereForThePotionsArt #art #conceptart #worldbuilding #traditionalart #sketch

descriptive alt text:
pencil drawing of a stone face resembling a Greco-Roman statue of a bearded man, but with hollow eyes and a tall, pointy helmet on top of his head. The visor of the helmet is a 6-pointed star with a ring intersecting it, the bottom point of the star connecting to the open bottom of the helmet.

Additional notes:
It's a bit muddy and quite messy, but that's fine, it's because it's actually a small side-drawing and I plan to redraw it digitally anyway. My pencil sketches are always kinda rough, they're just more accessible for me when I'm not feeling it mentally because of the tactile nature of drawing on paper and the lack of pressure to completely polish and render everything.
The visor design is based on the symbol of the Circle of Magi, the organisation that formally trains sorcerers, called the Star of Magus.

Because many Western helmet eyeholes coincidentally happen to resemble a crucifix and Christianity was historically the predominant religion in the West, I thought it would be interesting to use an alternative eyehole design that resembles the iconography of my setting rather than a standard real world eyehole design that resembles real world religious iconography, even though it isn't actually intentional that world helmet eyeholes resemble crucifixes.

I wanted an Elden Ring glintstone crown-esque design because I really like the air of arrogance to the point of wanting to be perceived as a work of academic art more than a person. Sorcerers in my world are also big on covering their faces, headwear that isn't a full mask like this is enchanted to completely obscure the face in magical darkness, so the big stone glintstone crowns worn by sorcerers of the Raya Lucaria Academy in Elden Ring really inspired me because they are so over the top in a simple, elegant way that I love. Likewise with Athena, I think my sorcerers would aim to resemble a statue of a god of wisdom. It is very in line with the way they perceive themselves.
