Here’s the thing about parenting: everyone tells you it goes so fast so cherish every moment. Really SAVOR it. And so you cherish and savor so hard. You tell yourself to really sit and value it and be grateful. And guess what: it doesn’t go any slower. It’s still fast.

Your need for a vacation is in inverse proportion to the effort you put into your automatic out-of-office reply. You write a semi-bawdy limerick in perfect meter about how you're refreshing yourself on a beach? Congrats. I was you once. My current preferred out-of-office email: "No."

This this this. The number of bad pregnancy/birth/miscarriage experiences people have with doctors is ASTOUNDING. (I have my own. Actually multiple from the same day. Though nothing on this level of traumatic.) My friends, if you are treated like crap in that vulnerable time RAISE A STINK. Do it.

i wasn’t sure whether or not to share this but i guess i just wanted people to understand the trauma on top of an already traumatic experience, and for other patients to know they have rights and don’t have to accept being treated like dirt.

I see lots of dem candidates saying “stop with the PC language it makes us LOOK BAD.” And I get that it turns some people off but also it’s used as a weapon against Dems EVEN WHEN CANDIDATES DON’T SAY “BIRTHING PEOPLE” ETC. So here’s my question: 1/ www.axios.com/2026/08/27/d...

"Allyship" and "birthing people": Democrats confront vocabulary problem

Several potential 2028 hopefuls say the party is alienating regular voters with "woke" rhetoric.

Physicals are dumb. Doctors only find things that are either status quo or BAD. Bloodwork is normal or you have too much cholesterol. It’s never like oh shit you got GLITTER flowing in there now! When did that happen? And I’m looking at your back and did you know you got really cool spikes growing?

US can inflict real econ pain on Canada — much more than they can do toward us. But also it seems Canadians are VERY mad at US … whereas median American I think feels sort of shrug toward Canada. Which is to say: trade war will hurt Canada but who knows how much pain they’re willing to withstand.

Friends. Tonight on All Things Considered, we have a *9-minute* conversation about masculinity and movies. (This is long in public radio world.) We talk Taxi Driver and Fight Club and Moonlight and a few unexpected examples. PLEASE LISTEN it's gonna be amazing.

Re: romantasy -- did I just get the phrase "dragon-curious" on NPR air? I sure did. You're welcome.
