The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization dedicated since 1919 to educating voters and defending democracy.

In the 1950s my mother took me with her to vote. She let me pull the curtain & explained the levers, including the “straight ticket." She said “We don’t have to use those; we can decide for ourselves”. I’ve been deciding for myself ever since. Marshall Fisher, Member LWV Asheville-Buncombe County

From workers’ rights to the right to vote, the strength of the labor movement goes hand in hand with the strength of our democracy. When ordinary people are empowered to stand up for their rights, we can all build a brighter future together. Happy Labor Day!
