Andy Burnham’s first budget is this week. I have been speaking to residents about what they need from it. Pressure at the fuel pump and energy bills were big themes. We need an Essential Energy Guarantee and fuel duty cuts. The Goverment can’t leave rural Britain behind.

Farmers are the backbone of this country. The Liberal Democrats are the party for farmers.
Labour, the Conservatives and Reform decided to not back British Farming last night in Parliament. The Liberal Democrats will keep fighting for farmers and pushing for the support our rural communities deserve.
British farmers are the backbone of not just our countryside, but our country. Yesterday, I highlighted how the Government is failing farmers with unclear SFIs. Then, the Conservatives failed to back British Farmers. The Lib Dems are the only party working for farmers.🌾🧡
Tonight, Conservative MPs failed to back British farmers in Parliament. The Liberal Democrats will keep fighting for farmers and pushing for the support our rural communities deserve.

It has become clear that the weather we have faced in recent years aren’t going to go away. Floods in the winter and droughts in the summer. I have seen people try to brush off these conditions, even as unprecedented records are broken. We must wake up and act. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

When will we move beyond models obsessed with GDP, towards broader measure of societal progress? An economy can grow whilst wealth inequality grows, our environments are destroyed and our health services leave those who are most vulnerable without support. We need change now.
🚨 BREAKING: The UK economy grew by 0.7% in the three months to August 2026
Food Security IS National Security. In the South Cotswolds, we feel it more than most. We must go further to support our farmers. #politics #westminster #southcotswolds #mp #libdem
We have fought for years to put rural communities like ours in the Cotswolds on the agenda. While the Government has finally acknowledged the heating oil rip-off faced by millions, this is classic too little, too late. Tackling rogue suppliers is the bare minimum. 1/2
Yesterday, I questioned the Home Secretary on RAF Fairford, rising concerns for local residents who understandably still feel anxieties over what happened there a few weeks ago. They deserve answers and clarity. I have secured a meeting with the Security Minister to hopefully get some answers.
This is an incredibly concerning and revealing trend if true. Why are Russian bots so interested in accounts on the far right of British politics? It seems some have seen their engagement more than half since successful strikes on Russian data centres. Article below. 1/2
I will be attending a statement from the Home Secretary on National Security later today, where I hope to voice the concerns of residents local to the RAF base in Fairford. The last few weeks have been confusing and frustrating for many residents across the area, they deserve answers.

Though it is awful that monitored wildlife populations around the world have dropped by an average of 73% since 1970, this is a big win for British wildlife. After tuna almost disappeared from UK waters, it’s clear evidence that conservation can work. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Any pledges made by a major party at a conference must be properly costed and backed by a clear spending plan. We can’t afford to open up a further £33bn black hole. Families across the country deserve the stability of a sensible, thoughtful Government.
Badenoch has spent half her conference making unfunded promises, and half lecturing the country on fiscal responsibility. We’re all still paying the price for Conservative financial mismanagement. Liberal Democrats will act as the firewall stopping her handing No 10 to Farage.
Does it really feel like a success? When private water companies continue to profiteer off our water systems as they continue to decay. When sewage continues to flood into our rivers and oceans. None of it feels like a success to me. We can’t just bury our heads in the sand. We need change now.
“Privatisation of Water was a success.” Read the room, Kemi.

I have again written to the Prime Minister as news continues to develop on the RAF Fairford story. I have asked for a meeting with him, together with defence representatives, to ask the questions residents have put to me and to consider what lessons should be learned from this.
Everyday since early Sunday morning there has been a different public consensus on the truth behind what happened around RAF Fairford. It’s important not to jump to conclusions while investigations are on going, and to be vigilant about any new ‘information’ you may read online.
If new builds are in danger of becoming uninsurable due to they high flood risk, there must be reconsideration on where these houses are being built. The residents of the South Cotswolds have known this danger for a while. The Government must listen. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Our story is a compelling and important one for the country. People feel their power has been taken from them. While populists encourage them to look sideways when laying blame, it should be the job of Liberals to remind people to look upward. www.radixbigtent.org.uk/news-comment...
