Shaping the future of mobility

I'm working on a long post about the "Long Modernization" of the Italian railways since nationalization, so I put up a map that tracks all the major improvements in the alignment (double- and quad-tracking, bypasses, fast quad-tracking, etc.)of trunk routes since 1905, the year of nationalization.

The "little trick" of Italian ZTLs is that they are conceived as an extremely flexible regulatory tool that municipalities can use to manage diverse traffic management problems. The nature of restrictions, time extension, perimeter, and scope are essentially left to municipalities to decide.
