If a mother has to pay a copay to get a doctor’s note to stay home from work to care for her sick kid, a senator should certainly be required to do the same for his employer when he’s out sick. Do our political institutions not have HR departments?

As I drive my car down the freeway, there is nothing I can do to stop it from driving into the cars around me…except pulling my foot off the gas, stepping on the brakes, steering in a different direction, not driving in the first place…
