Men's entitlement to extracting sex from women at any cost (to the woman), ignoring all signs of distress or pain or inability to actively participate, doesn't come from some abstract "biological" cause but a culture that reinforces sex as a woman's only function. We have not progressed past that.

I'm thinking of the countless attempts to shut down and any all discussions about patriarchy and misogyny by invoking abstract charges of "gender essentialism", or accusing feminists of thinking all men are inherently evil. The reality is actually much worse---women's pain isn't seen as real.

And i mean this has always been how this moral panic has gone that its mostly an obsessed well connected well funded horde pushing the politics along and the politicians going along with it cause its along their ideology and easier to just let it happen

I find it infuriating that nations who for decades have profited off the exploitation of immigrant labour, who have indeed engineered the conditions for that exploitation through making the countries of origin nigh unliveable, now dare to turn around and call migrants a drain. Absolutely maddening.

LGBTQ+ youth are hugely overrepresented in homeless populations cos their folks kick them out or chase them out. Where is the moral panic over that? Why do we, as a culture, place the blame for bad relationships on abused kids and not their abusers?

I'm not gonna quote post that estrangement article doing the rounds cos I ain't giving them the metrics but part of being in queer community is knowing a lot of people who are estranged from family. None of them broke contact for trivial reasons.

When I speak to the people I know who went no contact with their folks about it I hear horrific stories of abuse, of violence and childhood neglect of the most dangerous kinds.

The moral panic around estrangement is backlash against the small amount of cultural progress we have made for familial abuse survivors. Against the idea that parents don't get to hurt their kids, against the absolute tyranny of the heteropatriarchal family.

People are very resistant to the idea that patriarchy is about a relationship to power. Is every man abusive? No, plainly not. But patriarchy affords them the ability to misuse their power in a way that people of other genders cannot. So the more power they accumulate, the greater that temptation.
