It was #OTD in 2006 that the #Cubs signed Lou Pinella signed a 3-year deal worth nearly $10 million with a 1-year option. It got off to a rocky start, but Sweet Lou led the Cubs to back-to-back NL Central Division titles in 2007 and 2008 and was named Manager of the Year in 2008.

Looks like construction will start this week to prepare for the 2027 All Star Game at Wrigley Field. Emails were sent out to fans whose commemorative brick pavers will be relocated as they install crash-rated bollards.Security was a big hold up in having the MLB All Star game return to Wrigley Field

In 2018, the #Cubs took on the Brewers in Game 163 at Wrigley Field to determine the NL Central title. I bumped into Da Coach coming into the game as we was there to fire up the crowd. Iron Mike brought the energy, the Cub offense did not. RIP Mike Ditka.

It was #OTD in 1991, after the #Cubs finished the regular season by beating the Cardinals 7-3, that Harry Caray gave his “Sure as God made green apples, someday the Chicago Cubs are going be in the World Series” speech.

It was #OTD in 1945 that William Sianis and his pet goat Murphy arrived at Wrigley Field with two tickets for Game 4 of the World Series between the Chicago #Cubs and Detroit Tigers. They were not allowed it. Sianis turned around and left, but not before putting a curse on the Cubs

It was #OTD in 1984 that the #Cubs  lost Game 3 of the NLCS to the Padres 7-1. Cubs got on the board first with an RBI single by Ron Cey to take a 1-0 lead, but starter Dennis Eckersley got touched up for 3 in the 5th and 1 in the 6th. Kevin McReynolds hit a 3 run homer to put this one out of reach

For those that don’t know, the legendary Mai Tai Guy keeps each and every “Over 21” bleacher wristbands until the end of the season. After the final out of the season, we cut them off! Here is last night’s (this mornings?!) cutting of the wristbands! #Cubs

It was #OTD in 1932 that the most famous home runs in baseball history was hit at Wrigley Field. In Game 3 of the 1932 World Series, Babe Ruth came up to face #Cubd pitcher Charlie Root. Ruth made a distinct pointing gesture, and hit one 440 feet into the center field bleachers

ICYMI-The #Cubs got spanked by San Diego 8-0 in Game 1 of the Wildcard. Michael King was outstanding for the Padres, going seven innings and giving up 1 hit, an infield single to Nico. Matthew Boyd gave up three home runs to Tatis Jr, Machado, and Bogaerts. Just terrible

It was #OTD in 2019 that WGN broadcast their final #Cubs  game, the season finale against the Cardinals in St Louis. The Cubs were broadcast on WGN for 72 years, bringing Northside baseball across the US and making generations of Cubs fans. It was the end of an era.

Absolutely no surprises here. You knew Edward Cabrera had no shot at making it after that meltdown a week ago and Caleb Thielbar has been awful all season. This is the best 26 the #Cubs have. No complaints

It was #OTD in 2019 that the #Cubs announced that Joe Maddon would not return after 5 seasons as manager. Maddon was the only manager to make the playoffs in 4 consecutive seasons, 3 straight NLCS, and led the team to victory in the 2016 World Series. Maddon was 471-339 as manager of the Cubs

It was #OTD in 2019 that Ben Zobrist played in his final game of his 14 year career as the #Cubs finished the season against the St Louis Cardinals. In the bottom of the 8th, Joe Maddon called on Ben to make his first MLB pitching appearance. Zobrist struck out Yadir Molina to end the inning!

#Cubs win! #CubsWin! They salvage the finale against Boston in Tampa Bay beating the Red Sox 6-2! Alex Bregman was 4-4 with 2 home runs, a double and 4 RBI! The Cubs finish with a regular season record of 89-73! Now onto San Diego for the Wild Card series!

So stupid. I’m sure young kids, the ones @MLB hopes will become lifelong fans, will stay up until midnight to watch a game. And adults who have jobs where they have to wake up early won’t be able to watch it either. This needs to change so it is more fan friendly
