Nice discussion today by @lockedonorioles.bsky.social about some more strange decisions by Albernaz
Since the All-Star Break, O's catchers have a wRC+ of 2. Yup... 2. That means 98% worse than league average. Mostly no Rutschman/Basallo, obviously, but that's still hard to believe. Carlos Narváez now has a -13 wRC+ with the O's and a -0.3 fWAR.
The Yankees should always be out of challenges. Much more fun this way
I'll choose to remember the timely hits in Tampa Bay
Albernaz smashing the "just do something" button
Jackson is the guy who goes when Alexander comes back
So Taveras is hitting lefties now? Great. Go make it matter
Franklin's flyout would've been gone in 5 other ballparks. Sorry, guy
I'll never understand the 3-0 auto-take for a power hitter
this is mostly injury/platoon related, BUT... only 2 current Orioles have more plate appearances than Leody Taveras. they LOVE playing him
Bad ending but fun series. It's exciting to see the Orioles play better and meaningful baseball. Still, the challenge now is to keep it going
It's kind of funny that the O's bullpen already isn't good but Tyler Wells also pitched in this game and allowed 3 runs
Ugly series for Canó. Bad luck, for sure... but still ugly
Pozo and the Geek Squad are here to save the season
Top MLB hitters in the 2nd half (by wRC+): 1. Yordan Alvarez (178) 2. Pete Alonso and 3 others (172)
Adley Rutschman is batting .059/.273/.059 (16 wRC+) with the Red Sox. (Still doesn't sound right to say.) Taylor Ward is batting .156/.156/.219 (1 wRC+) with the Mariners.
