The second plenary at 10 am is by Lena Wilfert from U Ulm (www.uni-ulm.de/nawi/evolutionary-ecology-and-conservation-genomics/prof-dr-lena-wilfert/) on the effects of global change on insect health on the population level. #DZG2024

Of course, even if the 13th of September is a Friday, we will start with the plenaries at #DZG2024. At 9 am Philipp Engel (engelbeelab.com/) from U Lausanne will share insights into the interaction between the gut microbiota and social bees.

Good morning! Also for today a short outlook on the programme #DZG2024. Particular highlight: round table discussion at 1pm #IchBinHannah including the main protagonist Amrei Bahr. We conduct a small survey across participants of the various career stages, support us by your active participation!

The thursday at #DZG2024 concludes with a long poster session starting 4:45 pm in the mensa - great opportunity for discussions and exchange and meeting friends. To get oriented, use the poster pitch at 4:15 pm in the audiomax.

From 11:30 on, the day at #DZG20204 will be framed by the section groups. First, the talks from the invited speakers of section groups "Evolution", "Morphology", "Behaviour" and "Physiology", then the section sessions starting at 2 pm.

Good morning. The first autumn cold arrived - so head to the warm audimax for todays plenaries #DZG2024. First speaker at 9.a.m: Rudolf Meier (Natural Science Museum, Berlin) on high-throughput sequencing to identify new animal species without taxon bias.

The day at #DZG2024 will be completed by the Karl Ritter von Frisch- and Werner Rathmayer prize ceremonies, and then at 7pm the public talk by Sylvia Cremer on "teamwork in nature".

Alexander Kupfer from the Natural History Museum Stuttgart reviewing the history of Zoology at Stuttgart and Hohenheim Universities and the Museum. Names include Willi Hennig, founder of phylogenetic systematics. Hennig worked from 1963 on at the Museum in a provisional building in Ludwigsburg.

Following the traditions, the first talk, given by Alexander Kupfer from the Natural History Museum Stuttgart, introduces us into the rich history of Zoology in Stuttgart and Hohenheim. #dzg2024

Now the #DZG2024 welcome note by Caroline Ruiner, the vice-president of the Uni Hohenheim which is (by area) the largest Uni of Germany and has won a prize for the most bio-diverse campus in Europe.
