Youth sports were doomed when they got sucked into the hypercompetitive college admissions game. Soccer practice used to be a way to kill time after school until you could leave work to pick your kid up; now it's another thing your kid must excel at or they aren't getting into Yale.

the obsession with trans women in sports is, apart from the abject bigotry, a symptom of how we take amateur sports participation way too seriously in this country.

I find as I'm getting older that I've gone from finding people somewhat annoying who watch movies actively looking for plot holes to finding that my respect for them as people significantly drops and also thinking that this behavior is a sign of low intelligence.

I'm half Greek and the Greek* hissy-fit over The Odyssey not sufficiently conveying Greek cultural heritage has been the funniest thing in the world to me. *Yes I'm well aware that this is mostly being astroturfed by the world's worst people but I'm not letting crybaby Greeks off the hook here

Lindsey Graham died. They say if you can't say something nice then don't say nothing at all, so I will say that Lindsey Buckingham was a really great guitarist and songwriter in his day.
