#books Today's non-fiction book is "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius. It is a pity that old Marcus isn't still around, as his book has been in print for close to 2000 years, and those royalties add up. A fascinating meditation on Stoicism and an unparalleled glimpse into the mind of an ancient Roman.

Don’t let people say you’re too much. At the dictator Sulla’s funeral in Rome in 78 BCE, 210 litters with pounds of frankincense & cinnamon were burned. Plutarch says that an effigy of Sulla made from the substances was molded & burned alongside Sulla’s body on the funeral pyre. THAT is too much.

Our six-year old asked, for the first time, if she could stay up late to read in her bed under the covers with a light. All while her nerd parents are just standing there with misty and prideful eyes. It’s happening!
